Slip-On exhaust causing idle to fluctuate

Hey gang,

Tried google and search before posting so I hope this isn't a repeat thread!

Just put a Remus slip-on on the Strada and pulled the DB killer out.
Absolutely love the sound and look but I noticed that the idle on the bike now kind of fluctuates in odd intervals. Assuming it idles at maybe 1.2k RPM, it seems to jump to 1.5k RPM on and off every few seconds and then stops for a bit and starts again.

Butterfly valve is still intact though I pondered pulling the wires on it by the exhaust and leaving it open. However I can't seem to find anyone else reporting the idle issue. Is this something to be concerned about ? I wouldn't think a remap or power commander would be needed for just a slip on with the valve still functioning.

Thoughts?

My 'blade used to do this when warm before I put a PC5 on it. Hunting I believe is the correct term.

Wish I could offer more advice but I'm unsure what causes it exactly. There's some pretty technical guys here so hopefully someone will pop along and explain the mechanics behind it soon..

Hope so! Never had to put a PC on a bike with just a slip on before, full exhaust, sure. But I was hoping to avoid that as I pulled the stocker off mostly just to get a bit more sound out of the motor. The idle bouncing a bit is new to me, and I just hope I'm not some how damaging the bike.

I'm pretty damn sure you're not gonna be causing any long term damage, so I wouldn't worry about that.

But yeah, it's annoying alright. This 821 sounds nigh-on orgasmic when she's opened up. I went for an SC Project can at first, but it sounded very unrefined. With the Akra, it's more like an orchestra.
