I am at a loss with this bike... It has a slow starting problem, only when hot and does not happen every time I try to start). I been to 2 dealers and the answer I get is to keep riding till it either quits or does it every time. I am just waiting for the time it stalls in traffic and it pulls this slow starting ****.

Yeah it's a ****** issue alright. I managed to get it replaced under warranty (which has since expired) and the new motor is already showing signs of deterioration.

I'll be following kuksul's guide at some point I'm sure, and will be using the later model of motor this time round.

Its still under warranty and these dealers don't want to fix it.. I have never had a dealer not want to work on a bike under warranty.. My ford dealer never complains when I take my truck in.

Starting when hot

I have had trouble starting and staying running. Bike will turnover and start to idle then quit. Blipping the throttle does nothing. It seems to start in a limp mode or something and will not respond to throttle inputs and dies on me. I take off the gas cap in there is a lot of pressure built up from heat but does not seem to help. After about 10 attempts I get it started Ned throttle works. Temps are over 100F here. I was thinking might be problem with the California emission crap and heat creating vapor lock issue maybe? Dealer is 2.5 hour drive.

Have you had the throttle assembly checked for a recall?
