Switched 15T to 14T - don't notice much of a difference? Should I put on a 17T front?

I switched my front sprocket down to a 14T because a few people mentioned it makes a significant difference around town. I can't seem to notice a big difference myself? I read it would make the bike more usable around town and allow you to go slower without worrying of stalling and needing to drop down into 1st for example if you're in 2nd and taking a slow corner.

Just looked at the actual numbers (below) and the numbers would correspond with what I'm feeling. The difference is VERY small... only about a 1mph difference between 1st and 2nd gear between 15t vs 14t. And you lose about 8mph on the top end speed.

Curious what you guys think of this. Am I missing something about the benefits of the 14T front sprocket?

Quite frankly, going the other way and jumping up to a 17T front sprocket sounds like a nice proposition... You can cruise on the highway at 75mph comfortably in 4th gear and you get a 145mph top speed, all with a minor increase in minimum speed needed to maintain gear (only 0.8mph over stock 15T for 2nd gear).

What do you think?

The changes are more noticable once you get used to the bike in standard trim. I have done the lower gearing when changing chain and sprockets on other bikes. It does work.

@hh. You need several more hp to go faster. Unless its downhill and/or a following huricane, then you wont get more speed.

I have change sprockets on my privius bike and will do the same on my Hyper.

If you think the bilke will be a huge different in power and so on, you need to change more.
But from the graph you posted, you can se that it actually do show a slight better ridabillity at slow speed.

For me i feel that many times the speed is just between 1 and 2and gear.
Those +200 rpm or so that a 14T will provide will help me to ride more on 2and gear.

Most of the time the sprocket change is done on the Monster 1100 EVO.

On the Hyperstrada its not necessary!
