Hi everyone.

I just bought a new 2013 Hyperstrada in white. I should have it next week, I can't wait!

The dealer strongly suggested that I buy a tank protector, but the ones I have found are either expensive or ugly. I was wondering if a tank protector is a must for this bike given the upright riding position?

Thanks

I don't think tank protector is needed. But it depends on the bike jacket you wear.

The part of the tank where you would normally place a tank protector is plastic, not metal like many (older?) bikes. Denting and scratching was purpose of mounting these in the past, no? I just keep it waxed/protected with cleaner. I don't know why you would want to stick to the tank? i think the goal is to be as fluid as possible in the curves.

The ones hanging on the rack in my dealership are $70!!! For a piece of plastic with glue on the back!!! You'll probably get more knicks around the filler and winscreen than the aft tank area.
