termi?

WHen putting Termis on the bike do we HAVE to go to the ducati dealer to get the proper map installed or can it be done at home?

I'm so tired of the 4-5k range troubles I have that I'm willing to dish out the cash for the termis with the race ecu or however it works.

Well, if you are interested in the low mount slip-on (no re-map needed), I have a new one (never mounted) for sale in classifieds.

Rexxer or RapidBike will help out more than a Termi. Think you only get the up-map with the full system. I'd take that money you'd drop on the Termi, get a Akra or Remus, high-flow air filter and have a shop install a tuner.

I have the RapidBike Evo and it smoothed everything out. Difficult to install yourself. Rexxer is cheaper and simple flash, it's just only good for a single configuration.

Yeah after speaking with someone at motowheels they convinced me to not buy the rexxer either. According to him, only one map can be loaded on the rexxer and to get a new one (if for example I add a high flow air filter or something later on) I have to send it back to get another map. As opposed to paying about half and having someone do it on a bench and send the ECU back to me.

Is that true? I was expecting a library of maps like power commander.

We have one die-hard Rexxer fan on here. I actually met the owner and developer of Rexxer (just so happens to co-own the shop near me in VA) and he confirmed that their tune is only good for current configuration. So, if you say get the tune for your pipe and then want to install the MWR power-up kit, you'll have to drop another $300 for another map.

I feel you're going the expensive route for a map. Your Remus is probably about as good as the Termi slip on regarding weight and flow/ power. I'd buy an Akra full system before the Termi kit, personally.

Why don't you just keep your Remus and get a RB tuner? You can install yourself for $500 or get it installed professionally for well under the full Termi kit price. I don't know what it costs from the US distributor but I don't think they'll just sell it to you and let you do the install yourself. I got mine from an Italian distributor for under $500 and RB confirmed it was authentic and not a refurb. Search "Rapidbike". I wrote a very detailed DIY. Not a very easy install with removing the fuel tank.

Or, buy the Termi and sell me your Remus! Did you get the black or stainless model? Like the sound? I think the Akra probably performs a little better but they sell the mid-pipe separately, and it's costly. Remus looks to be the most affordable can that isn't ugly.

Aftermarket exhausts are stupid. And they are ALL ******* ugly. Power gains are negligible and they sound like ****. I want to walk up and drop kick people off their bikes when they have a dumb loud exhaust.

Save your money for something useful like the new tires you'll be needing every 6 months if you actually ride.

I think our stocker sounds great and looks decent but, have you held the can removed? It's not light and a little portly. Slip-on with mid-pipe is good way to save some weight and ace the stupid cat. If you core out the stock pipe, you get one volume - annoying as hell. At least with most of the aftermarkets you get a DB killer insert.

I agree that they are way overpriced for what you get and most are ugly. That's why I'll wait to snatch a used one.

I'm sorry man... not a single person on this thread actually bothered to answer your question, so I will.

No need to go to the dealer for the Termi. It's very easy to install the map, basically plugs in and once its done, it says hypermotard racing every time you turn the ignition ON. I have the full system so I know that comes with the map. I'm not sure about the slip on.

It's a sport touring bike man. 3 lbs here and there isn't going to make a difference when you are loaded down with fishing and camping gear! I definitely wouldn't sacrafice comfortability (increased sound level) or $1000 to save 3 lbs.

I had the termi on my bike for about a week. No thanks.

But the beauty of this bike is being able to strip most of that crap off and flog it. I can ride this way more confidently (re: stupidly) than my old R6. It's way more sport than touring.

So you hate exhausts but you shelled out for the most expensive one on the market? Did you have this revelation after mounting that pipe?

Haha, well I do prefer to speak from experience. I tracked mine with the Termi. meh. I say; Don't knock it 'til you've tried it!

I also made $50 selling it over what I paid so there is that.

Now, a second set of wheels mounted with some race slicks... that's some bang for you buck! Re-cooping that cost wouldn't be so easy.

In my experience there is little difference in slip on performance. I got the black and its more of a dark grey and not only is it beautiful but it sounds amazing as well.

If I were to do it all over I might try out the SC project or Spark which are both more racing style than street. I also had several people tell me to go with the comp werkes. Given however that I have experienced such barely noticeable differences between slip ons, I just went with what I perceived as the best looking and sound based on youtube videos. They all sounded really similar. I found it online someplace for under $500 and had revzilla price match it. When I bought the bike, the service guy there suggested the Leo Vince which is also black. It seemed kind of old manish, for lack of a better way to say it.

I dunno man. I love the way mine sounds. Everyone that has heard it loves the way it sounds. Sounds good? check. Looks good? Check. Performs better? check.

Also, you mentioned this was a sport touring bike. If I put panniers on a gsxr1000 is it a sport tourer? Because thats all that happened here. The hypermotard is hardly meant for touring. The strada just added some convenience for those of us that use them for more than just hammering through the streets. I get groceries on mine. Its also how I convinced my wife to let me get a hypermotard, basically. She sees side packs and suddenly the bike is alright.

No brainer for me.
