Hey All,

Reading through the manual the other day I noticed our bikes have a trickle charger or battery tender style port under the seat that allows for plug and play charge via Ducati's Battery Maintainer.

Amazon.com: Ducati OEM Plus Life Battery Charger Tender Maintainer: Automotive

Anyone use this or is the port under the seat common enough to use another brand?

BTW, its oin our manual page 195 .

Thanks

I use Battery Tender Jr with charging point located near rear spring. Works as advertised and the BT products are cheap and well rated. Very easy to find on the shelf too.

Does the BT plug match the ducati plug or is there another connection under the seat?

The BT junior comes with a fused SAE plug and wiring, which should be connected directly to the battery. My dealer installed this connector before delivery. The OEM sockets are not connected to the battery when the ignition is off.

But if you spring for a Shorai you don't have to keep it on the charger unless you park it for more than a few months. It loses a few pounds from under the seat, too!

The BT Junior plugs right into the SAE connector below the seat. My dealer may have added this purposely for tender application as other members have this connection located in different locations.

I drained my battery a bit when installing driving lamps and the tender went through the normal progression of charging indications, with ignition off. Voltage checks good in maintenance menu, as well.

I won't mind if my stocker dies. BT has very lightweight lithium offering. Shorai looks good too.
