OK guys, I'll be going back into the dealer with a slight issue here ! two oil leaks, one of which i have seen on the forum, the other I have not. Let me know thoughts, 1800 miles to date. 600 mile service, the bolt weeping was noted.

1. Weeping oil on Left Side head bolt — Left side, rear stud bolt is weeping oil, gathering at base engine just above shifter linkage.

2. Weeping Oil onto exhaust - front, right side oil leak, dropping onto front section of exhaust, causing a little bit of smoke when it drops onto the hot exhaust - lovely!

Just noticed this on mine. Hitting the exhaust is a nice touch. I'll be bringing it in for them to check. Do you go to riverside or cycles 128?

I hate oil leaks. Do the head bolts have crush washers? I don't think they would have removed those for 600 mi service. Hopefully they did and got careless on installation.

Maybe they screwed up the gasket off the line?

I go to riverside and they did indicate when taking a quick look about 2 months ago that it will depend on Ducati's tech/warranty group whether they take apart to replace gasket and o-ring for that head bolt versus a new motor drop in to save on labor!

As a side note I also recently visited Cycles 128 , seems like they are under new management , have a ton of Ducati inventory - not sure how well they are known- giant showroom which is great.

a new engine vice some new gaskets?! I'd petition to keep the old engine. Man what I would do with this little 821 gem...

Brought it by Riverside - going to give it to them tomorrow. Also have them look at the front brake scrape sound. With this stuff and the gas tank farts - it's one busy little machine.

Cycles 128 owns everything in grater Boston except Riverside. Bought my cb500f from them and they were OK. Riverside offered me a very sweet deal on this bike so I couldn't say no.

Unless you swap to EBC pads, get used to the grinding sound from front rotors. It's a waste of time having them swap rotors and stock pads. Farts are normal.

Could you please tell me which EBC pads? I am tired of the ****** grinding and squealing.

It's normal for this bike - and not safety related - just an interesting collection of sounds - doubt Honda would let it all slide - might be wrong.

Regarding the oil dripping on the exhaust pipe - it was just a slightly leaking oil filter gasket. The wind would blow it to the rear and it dripped on the pipe. Issue resolved here - hope it's not more serious for others.

I think the more your rotors float - which increases with higher performance sets - the more noise you'll get in light braking. Just my observation when they slapped the race spec rotors on mine. There's almost a 1/4" of play around the bobbins so it would make sense they dance and vibrate until really adding pressure to the pads.

Ok the update here was for the oil weeping out from the bolt, the dealer did have to pull the head as the issue essentially is not enough gasket/sealant was put in place around the base of that bolt - allowing a little bit of oil to travel up
The bolt and seap out. This, it was a take apart and reassemble job - under warranty and great service from Riverside.

what was the oil leak fix? new motor? head bolt?
