Well I will be off for a 3 hr ride over the mountains to the dealer in the morning. Going in for the first service. At least I'll get a free lunch out of the deal. Bellevue Ducati does a BBQ every Saturday.

Question, How long was the service? and what did they charge you? if you don't mind teling.

It was about $270 with tax and took about 1-1/2 hours. They checked for error codes, re-flashed ECU with update, cleaned, lubed and adjusted chain, engine oil, filter and cleaned prefilter, reset TPS & APS, reset service light, ck fan set point, ck forks and shock for leaks, ck all the pivot points for rubbing, ck charging system voltage, ck brake wear, checked and torqued critical bolts including engine mounts. Test ride to verify running condition. I had a bit of a surging action between 3k & 4k rpm. Included, coffee in the morning, hamburger, hot dog, chips and a soda at lunch.;)

Did the update cure the surging???

Not sure, will know tomorrow when I ride to work. Virtually my whole trip to and from the dealer yesterday was on I90. I looked for it between the dealer and the freeway but with traffic I couldn't hold the throttle constant long enough to know for sure.

Hm... I have to be honest.. All of those checks sound like normal warranty *** covering things. I still can't believe I let Ducati get me every time. $300 for an oil change is still craziness..

Don't take offence to my comments, its not directed to you, but I will give you my thoughts on it.

If I want to be a cheap a$$ I would never have bought a Ducati and would have used the Amzoil sitting on my shelf. The Ducati is a toy to help relive my stress from work. I learned many years ago that a good service repair facility is hard to find and is important to support. Because of poor repairs by hacks over the years, I generally do my own work on bikes, cars and boats. This store has a staff of very knowledge service techs. While there I spent time talking with the 2 sales guys, parts guy, finance guy, service writer and general manager. The goal is to develop a repor so that if there is problems in the future they will be on my side trying to resolve them. All of them ride and have a lot of knowledge about the bikes. Including the cause and effects of different mods. This store has a great reputation in the Ducati community. They host rides and have a monthly track which I will attend in August. Will I go back for just an oil change, no. But I will take it back for the 18K mile service. It was a very relaxing day watching an old Moto GP on the big screen with them and talking bikes, family and other things. My take is to support a top notch store so they are there in the future when I need repairs or a new bike.
Enjoy your rides;)

Right on, Strada. I spent first service hanging with the techs in the service bay and it pays to get in good with them. It didn't take long before they were hooking me up with what service items I could tackle on my own, what premium fluids/parts were actually worth the extra $$, and other tuning tidbits. This is when my evap can magically "fell off" and they told me what some oblivious owners did to land their engines on the operating tables around the room. The owner/manager has a respectable amateur racing history and the techs related a lot of racing knowledge to keeping Duc's happy, especially if you run them hard.

Yeah, I'm all DIY for sure, but I have a great dealer and mechanic, tho a ways to travel (180 miles) I try to support them. Took mine in for 600 mi service also, $280. I had a Multi1200 2010 also serviced by them, and we know each other pretty well, I like that. Never know, down the road you may need help, and a good dealer has to make a profit to stay around!

From what I can tell from my short ride to work is that most if not all of the surging is gone. I'll see how the week of commuting goes.:D I sure love riding this bike.

Thanks for the update, I'll be asking my dealer to do the update on the 1st service, if it's not already got the latest software. (it should seeing as it was only delivered over a week ago) but I did notice a slight hunting at around a steady 4000rpm.
Unfortunately it will be next month before i get to ride this fabulous bike again and get some more mileage on it.

It must be nice to have a good dealer, mine has a not so great reputation of treating ducati owners like rich cash cows. The tech who works ducati seems like a really good guy, but the service writer won't go any extra mile for anyone. My first service was $325,

My dealer checked and I have no software updates available. Took delivery 1st week of May in FL. Bike chugs @3500rpm and below, more so in lower gears. Considering older inline 600's wouldn't budge below 4K, it doesn't seem that odd.

If you're in a power mode with HIGH engine power, you will certainly notice surging as the throttle sensitivity is ridiculous. MED/LOW power levels dampen throttle sensitivity and makes slow speed travel more bearable.

Had my 1st 1000km service yesterday at my dealer. What a joke! $260 tax in is what i expected, and was fine with that. But the whole experience was terrible, after waiting a couple hours i finally asked if my bike was ready. They asked if i could bring the bike back sometime because the were having trouble resetting my oil light??? What? really? That's why i cam back to the dealer, check for ecu updates, and do all the specifics that a Ducati dealer should. I dont think they even used the proper oil? Man i have lost total confidence in my Ducati. I am now concerned that if i do have a real problem these guys wont be able to fix it!

Same with me. My oil light is still on following my 1000KM service. They explained it to me as part of the whole "no ECU updates yet" and "something that Ducati is working on" but from what I'm seeing on this forum, I'm thinking that's just a line I'm being fed. It sounds to me like it's the shop techs that are "working on" getting their own knowledge up to par and taking advantage of the ECU issue that I had to blame other things on Ducati

I'm guessing your from Ottawa? That's where i was yesterday. I Just got off the phone with them. Because i wanted to ask about the Oil they used. They told me Motul. I asked why they didnt use Ducati recommended Shell Advance? He told me the Motul is better. I should have seen the red flags when i walked to the service counter and asked about the 3 or 4 Aprilia's near the service counter. I asked what's up with those new Aprilia's? The service guy told me that they were old stock from when the were dealers in 2007. I'm guessing that they dont even have Ducati tech equipment to work on our bikes. Man what a let down! Spent alot of money on my first new Duke and now i wish i had bought something else:(

My dealer uses Amsoil. I was never on the Amsoil bandwagon but I look at it as if they recommend it, they understand the consequences of something going south because of that product. They did say something along the lines of "good luck finding Shell Advance in your local store". I believe they said they prefer Motul for the track, but not as a commuter fluid as it has less detergents and is designed to be changed often? Could be way off on that one, though.
