You know how it goes. I clearly have some sort of stockholm syndrome. Despite all the, ahem, quirks with this bike I went out and bought another one this weekend. I will of course be selling the 2015 once the dealer gets to the bottom of it's occasional limp mode issue.
Maybe it's just me, but breaking in a motor seems like a surefire way to highlight one's shortcomings as a rider. Bad lines in a corner are exaggerated by needing to downshift to ensure things stay above 3k. A lack of precision when up shifting quickly at 5k results in a blip over 6k for moment here and there. In short, it's reminding me frequently that I did not need this much bike. I do like it though.
Overall impressions, suspension is set from the factory quick firm. It's nice to have less front end dive, but I'd never been bothered by that on the base model. Engine is just as jerky as the 821, probably more so as it's being broken in so I haven't really gotten on the throttle that aggressively. I do notice the weight difference picking it up off the side stand, more so by my garage since it's on a steep hill. Otherwise the ride characteristics are, unsurprisingly, very much the same.
