Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and also the new owner of a 2014 Hyperstrada 821. I am asking for your help in identifying which version I have in order to know which Andreani front suspension model to order.

I know, it's a topic that has been discussed here and even in several topics, but despite all that, I can't reach a conclusion about the Hyperstrada model I have. I no longer have either the black sticker or the sticker with the description of the chain adjustment.

From my measurements with the rear shock spring preload knob fully tightened , the seat height is 870 mm (34.25 in). Engine shield to the ground, there is 170 mm (7.69 in).

With the rear shock spring preload knob loosen to zero clicks, I have 860 mm (33.85 in) seat height and 160 mm (6.29 in) ground clearance.

The Hyperstrada 2014 owners manual specifies that the standard model has an 850 mm (33.46 in) seat height and an engine ground clearance of 178 mm (7 in).

The low model has 810 mm seat height and 160 mm (6.29 in) ground clearance.

The manual does not specify the rear suspension setting when they did the measurements.

As you can see, my measurements are a little off, but in minus or plus?

Seat is the standard one, the code on its label is still legible.

What else could I measure and check to make sure I'm ordering the right suspension model?

In fact, I just ordered the standard suspension for the 2014 Hyperstrada, not knowing the existence of the low model :)). Now I should quickly inform the seller if he changes my suspension with the low model so that he doesn't...

Thanks a lot for your help!!!

On a recent flight with too much time without internet access I looked through the entire spare parts catalogue to see what's listed as different for the Low Seat version. Here's the full list:

Front forks
Rear shock
Front brake line
Centre stand
Side stand
Chain adjustment sticker

The easiest item to measure, that would always be there, is the side stand. When I'm home on Wednesday I'll get the tape measure out...
Hi and welcome.

Above is from a thread here - Suspension and Height Differences between Hyperstrada 939 Model Years
- I'm sure that you've seen it, although it is the 2016 version.

The above lists two numbers for side and centre stand.
I will measure mine tonight (although I only THINK mine is a standard model!) and get back to you with some key dimensions. It may be tomorrow though.

Yours is confusing that the seat looks taller than standard but ground clearance is as the low version.

I know Uncle Brad, on here has done some digging into this, maybe he can help further.

Hmmm....interesting. I'll measure my kickstand also and post the measurement here with some photos. I'll also like to add them to the thread i started but i can no longer edit my posts. I'm curious about the height of the front forks in their clamps and if someone has raised them to the max. If they were raised to the max, that could throw off your numbers. One other thing you can check is to see if you have the preload set to the factory recommended settings before you make any further measurements. Cheers!

Yes, thanks, much appreciated!

I just spoke with local Ducati reps and they confirmed that if the bike was purchased in Europe, it's indeed a European version. They also mentioned it's likely the standard version unless the previous owner opted for a lowering kit. In that case, the bike would be lowered by 2-3 cm, which are also my measurements.

Given the age of the bike (around 10 years old), some minor discrepancies in measurements are possible.

However, for added reassurance, measuring the side stand would be very helpful.

Thanks again!

I took the measurement from the bolt to the bottom of the stand where the foot joins the leg of the stand. Mine is a 2016 Low Version.

I measured along the leg of the stand to the mounting bolt.

It appears that the measurement i have is 20.3 cm.

Hope this helps.

Just going to link this thread which contains @uncle brad post & my findings on low vs standard

Thanks for measurements @uncle brad! From what I just read, 2016 model is lower and different from 2013-2014 model. My bike is stil at the repair shoop ( still figuring out how to fix throttle jerkyness) I"ll measure the stand first thing when I'll take it back.

When you get the jerkiness figured out, let the rest of us know the solution.😁

Not sure where you got the info that the 939 is lower then the 821. Can you share the info?

yes, I figured out from your other thread:

If you compare the owner manuals for 2013-2014 models with the one for 2016, you'll notice a difference in ground clearance (engine shield to ground) between the standard and low versions. The 821 is taller in both versions, although the seat height on 2016 low version is a little bit taller compared to 2014 low version. The difference isn't substantial, but it's there. yes not taller, just the engine to ground distance is higher on 821.

I wonder if the difference can be attributed to weight and/or different tires perhaps. Maybe they had a new guy measuring the chassis in 2016. ;)

Hope this helps.

Mine I get nearer 225mm on the sidestand
(It's not straightforward to measure)
In a straight line along the tube it's 220mm from ground to pivot.
Centre stand is 230mm ground to pivot

For a 2013 (believed) standard height
