Any way to make the exhaust louder?

Was wondering if there's any way to make the stock exhaust louder? Any packaging that can be removed or anything drilled or some way to make it less muffled?

If you cut it off I guarantee it will be much louder.

Seriously though, if you do something to change the flow output of the exhaust, the ECU may need to be tuned. It may not, just saying.

Do you like the look of the stock exhaust and intend to find a way to keep it and make it louder or would you be willing to buy a new exhaust? Are you just interested in noise level or do you want more power as well?

Yeah, I like the look of stock. More power would be nice, but don't care about that so much. Just interested in louder. It's got a nice tone to it, but the supersport and jap bikes are WAY louder. I wouldn't mind louder. I probably would be fine without the silencer at all and just going straight headers, but that wouldn't look good and it would be throwing the exhaust right at my right foot! Hah!

My car's exhaust is louder (120db peak at full rev under no load) than the stock exhaust on the Hyper! A motorcycle should always be louder than a car. Haha!

I'm pretty sure you can remove the catalytic converter inside the muffler. Swore somebody on here did that.

It's there for a reason. Really not sure why anyone would want this thing to be any louder.

Removing the cat is already done by someone on the forum. It's mentioned in another post.
It's a lot of work with heavy duty tools without any improvement.
The only thing possible with the original setup is disconnecting the flapper valve (disconnecting the cable near the valve).

Well, the cat certainly provides extra resistance. When you buy any performance exhaust for any kind of vehicle, cat's are an option for legality purposes only as they don't breathe as good as open cans.

I agree with the loudness argument but, it would definitely breathe better without. Might loose some low-end, which could be bad all around with this engine.

What car do you have that's louder than a hyper?

Though I don't see a need for louder I do understand the need to make the bike something it's not. I'm going for more trail worthy mods myself.

The sport bikes run at higher rpm than the 821 engine the strada has and they are likely to have performance pipes, no cat or special racing cat all contributing to loud. So if you remove the cat you're still without that high rpm whine. Your bike I imagine would liken the choppers potatopotatopotato sound.
I could be wrong. Let's try it.

I was thinking about air pollution: carbon monoxide. Having a cat isn't asking too much.

Unless you fire it up in your garage with the door closed, who cares? Sorry, not a global warming believer. And glad my vehicles have always been registered in a state that doesn't require emissions tests. Guarantee a car with 4 cat's pumps out more dirty air than this bike.

The guy breathing your exhaust may care. You aren't alone on the planet. Strangely you do seem to care whether it's on or off - why ?
