Anyone else's bike making mooo sounds?

Okay, this is strange and funny at the same time. Just got my OEM battery swapped out for a Shoari 18A. Got home, turned off the bike and when I got off the bike, it emitted a sound for 2 seconds that almost sounds like a mooo. I thought, 'Okay, that was weird.' But then I propped the bike up on its centerstand and heard the same sound. So I rattled the bike side-to-side... same sound again. It appears whenever I would move the bike side-to-side and then stop, it would emit the same sound. Has anyone heard anything like this or any kind of sustained sound (it's not squeaking or anything like that) after shifting their bike side-to-side when it's off?

Didn't hear this noise before the new battery was installed so I can only guess it's related in some way?

I'm stumped! And no, there's not a cow stuck in my radiator. :p

Do go for a psych exam yet, I think it's the fuel pressure bleeding off. And the frequency of the "moo" sound tapers off. There was another thread about this with some hilarious results :p my fiancé sayes the Duc is quacking.

Haha, okay thanks guys! Good to know that it's just a normal part of the Duc personality. This Hyperstrada is my first Ducati so I'm just in the beginning stages of learning the personality of it. Appreciate your helping me out and answering my newbie questions so I know what's right and not out of the ordinary. Thanks guys!

My bet is on the emissions canister - has some fuel in it and is 'burping.' If you (or the original owner) overfill the tank, liquid fuel will end up in there.

I removed my canister and the bike still does it the very same as before.

Hmm. First I've seen this; mine has never done it. I do get a bit of brake noise if I hold the front tight right to the stop. Otherwise, it's all music!

My work vehicle (A C-17) makes a similar noise when air is escaping from the fuel overflow vents. It's a slightly different tone, and much longer in duration, but the plane gained "Moose" as a nickname because of it.

The emissions canister is a California requirement. Something about keeping the fuel vapors contained. If you ever move away from CA, I've heard good things about performance and engine starting when it's removed.

What's the emissions canister and what's the reason to remove it?

There is a black canister near the forward cylinder on the left side of you're bike, it's just full of charcoal and is mandatory in California. It takes fuel vapor from the top of you're gas tank and routes it through you're exhaust header as an enviromental thing, bad news if you fill you're hyperstrada and leave it on the side stand this canister can fill with liquid gas and can disable you're bike, I think it's pretty rare but from the times I've seen gas next to my bike I think I would have been one of them

this has been covered b4, mine is a uk one and we don't have the cannister but it still farts in hot weather, its only the fuel tank prv, nothing to worry about.

Australian delivered, no canister, but gentle lowing sounds. Most bikes just tick, tick, tick after a ride, whereas the Hyper communicates with a bit of character.

From Bologna right to Jerez mine.... No canister and YES!!! it sounds like a cow.
Very funny sound, it comes from the fuel tank and its normal
