Traction control will put the end to your wheelie fun sooner or later.

Crank the throttle, real wheel accelerates, front wheel lifts and thus stops accelerating.

Computer sees rear wheel spinning faster than front wheel and thinks "this is bad..."

Game over for your wheelie.

Spot on ^^^^

I just keep Sport Mode with 0 DTC and 0 ABS so I can wheelie and slide the bike still on the dirt and pavement. On my bike it felt like the DTC set at 5 or above would limit my wheelies to short quick burst and maybe 4-6 inches of lift.

If you do set your bike to 0/0 on the settings, the ABS light flashes at you about every 3 seconds. I guess this is normal. But having them off makes me feel like I'm back on a dirt bike/supermoto (with a nice comfy seat and an engine that actually belongs on the pavement).

When I started messing around with the DTC and setting it off on purpose, I was surprised at how un-intrusive it was when it kicked in. I think they did a pretty good job with it. It doesn't like a lot of real wheel spin off-road though. Last time I did that, it actually turned the engine light on after awhile off road. A simple flick of the key on/off took care of it and it turned off.

I keep at DTC 1 ABS 1 all the time. I think the traction control only detects rear wheel slip (at least on that setting). Not too often when I wheelie does the traction control kick in. If it does, it detects the rear wheel slipping (wheelie in wet, power sliding the rear). Even if it does I can still power through it. Even 3rd the front gets light n floaty. That makes me a little uneasy without steering stabilizer

The traction control ******* the ignition timing to reduce power. Higher traction control = more ******** ignition. The traction control works great (a bit annoying off road)

If you don't want to wheelie, set it to the highest so the computer can keep your right hand in check, or set to urban mode that reduces power.

ABS = 2 you got full abs on both wheels
ABS = 1 you got full on front but a bit less on back. So you can lock the wheel a bit before the ABS will com in to play.
DTC wont stop you from wheelie. Im quit bad at it, but my dealer on a trackday (got one when i bought the bike) Did wheelies and could do it all day long. And he had all default settings and touring mode. DTC will only prevent the back wheel from spinning.

Just read this in the service manual regarding wheelies and ABS

"If the vehicle front wheel remains off the ground for a prolonged period while the vehicle is moving, the speed difference detected between the two wheels causes an ABS fault (warning light activated) and makes it impossible for the control unit to establish a reference speed."

Doesn't sound like it would activate anything but you may get an error if having too much fun. :)

I may or may not have rode a full 2nd gear wheelie yesterday and didn't get any warnings or faults (HI pwr/DTC 1/ABS 1)

If you check out Cycle World's "Game of Hype" vids you will see some impressive Hypermotard wheelies! One rider popped a paintball capsule on his rear plate holder...he was way past 90 degrees.

Race Tech told me that the rider was one sponsored by them...

Mine will only wheelie if tc is set to 0 and in sport mode..then she is a wheelie monster..even with tc on 1 it will not.. abs well only 'stop' a stoppie

The tc red light turns on for me even when set to 1 and prevents wheelie...with throttle only out with clutch..maybe a couple inches of the ground momentarily but that's it

my dtc/abs is set at default settings still from the factory, in touring mode 1st gear and the bike will pull a big wheelie just on throttle and I just ride it out, easiest way is to chop the throttle slightly causing the front suspension to compress and then hard on throttle the front comes up really easy. Sport mode is the same and now trying to master changing to second gear whist on the back wheel.

Mine will lift in 2nd gear, Touring, DTC 3.

I think consensus was that DTC can't prevent a wheelie. Only rear wheel slip.
