chain maintenance etc

I generally scrub clean and relube the chain every 4-8 hours worth of highway riding... If I notice if the chain is starting to get dirt stuck between the links (or it becomes blackend) and a tell tail ring of crudd collecting on the rear sprocket... It's time for a quick clean/relube.

Chain tension adjustment

Have any of you guys had to adjust the chain tension?

Just wondering how its done on the strada because on the Multi they give you a tool for it.

Is it something we need to take to the dealer?

You need to buy the tool seperate. Try your dealer.

I might just let the pro's do it. I've never done it before and don;t want to attempt it without proper supervision...

It's super easy, way simpler than on a bike with a standard swing arm. You can get the tool cheaply on eBay or any number of non-Ducati bike part sites.

Loosen 2 bolts, use the tool to adjust, adjust some more, check the measurement again, tighten 2 bolts, re-check, and you're done. The measurement and method are in the manual.

My tool hadn't arrived yet and I was headed out on a long trip. a long flatblade screwdriver with the tip set into the ring and a hammer to tap it worked, but it wasn't pretty. Still, only took about 10 min.

do you do it on the center stand or side stand? I've heard people say one or the other.

The manual says you have to take the measurements while on the side stand.

yup I saw that in the manual. It should be .96 inches. I'll watch some more videos on youtube and ask the mechanics when I go in for my 600 mi service about it.

Not quite. It's approximately 2.4 inches.

no no the equation from millimeters to inches is 2.32 / 2.40 = .96 inches

Which could probably just be rounded up to 1 inch.

I think I'm just going to ask the tech about it. I don't want to mess it up....

No, that's not right. There's 25.4 millimeters to an inch.

60 millimeters is 2.36 inches.
