DIY Extended Chain Guard

HH, yes I just let it idle and spin for a minute or two, clutch out. Monstard, I don't get much chain slap with the clutch out, not nearly enough to worry me. If the chain is really dry and kinked up, it might be a problem. You could always apply a bit of rear brake to load it. But you are 100% correct that all wiping must be done with engine off, in neutral! I'd rather stick my hand into a meat grinder. But I generally work on the top run, not the bottom. The lube I use seems to spread well anyway.

interesting that my chain behaves differently, perhaps the tension is a little loose compared to others. but the dealer set-up my chain when they noticed it too tight when i brought it in for service... so i assume it must be within spec

Great. Really need/want it. But why can't they just make a friggin non-CF, plastic one for $20...

How about a straighter piece and some velcro off the existing chain guard? There's some heavy duty stuff out there.
The existing chain guard is very flimsy - wouldn't support anything without some form of bracing/bracket supporting the add-on and keeping it aligned with the chain. Cheers.

Yeah, black plastic to match the existing plastic work would be ideal but I couldn't locate one that would do the job nicely. Probably nothing wrong with the 'chop up a bucket' approach but I wanted something that would be aesthetically pleasing. Never had a new bike before and I'm a little 'precious' about my flash as red Duc :D
