Do you have roads like this??? Ebbetts Pass Ride Video

Four times we rode this road. Four times we could count the traffic on one hand.

The routes are a mix of technical backroads and smooth higher speed twisty. 3rd gear and then 4th gear. All out of the way of traffic, though some highway action needed to tie everything together.

Really, none of my planned routes have been followed. Instead, reacting to current construction, I am leading the guys on freestyle routes. Each night we turn in completely exhausted.

It has turned out that my freestyle routes are the most enjoyed by riders, both this spring and now. Any future rides will be only this kind of ride. One where guys follow me on my favorite roads. Only waypoints shared in advance, to allow for riders to meet at a specific point should they need to.

Are you guys interested in a group ride since you're local? I know there are a few other bay area guys too. I like riding Mt.Hamilton and try to do it weekly or every other week. PM me if that sounds fun!

I've ridden redwood and pinehurst before, but only a couple times. Pretty fun roads. :) Berryessa is SO bumpy. Oh man, the pot holes out there can take out a wheel if you aren't careful.

The most insane road I have ever ridden, by far, was Mattole road up in the Lost Coast area. It was borderline dirt biking. The most nasty, torn up roads with massive 2 foot dips, jumps, gravel, pot holes. I probably caught it at the worst time ever since there were about 50 loaded gravel trucks going up and down for construction.

Always up for more riding, I'm not consistently riding every weekend but it's always good to have options. Last ride I did was the enchanted hills in Sonoma, that was poorly timed during the heat wave we had out here and my gear is not suited for anythin much above 80. Anyway, I'll shoot you a PM.

All great roads! Matole is certainly one of the most "interesting" roads!:D
I love it! (some bikes are not well suited! :D )

Several groups I ride with ridden the area since late 80's ... along with all the roads around there, including the dirt ones. Some group rides end up a sort of race ... so can get a bit crazy depending on who is in attendance.

I liked the area so much I set up the first Horizon's Unlimited California travelers meeting there about 10 years ago. They've since relocated it to Mariposa, CA.

I'd love to do a Mt. Hamilton ride now that my Strada is up and running again. Let me know when you guys want to do it ... I'll try to make it.

I will give you guys a couple backroads to find and ride:

Between 50 and 88
Cat Creek
North South
Silver Fork

Between 4 and 88
Sheep Ranch
Railroad Flat

Between 50 and I-80 closed until 2019
Except for Iowa Hill

Riding in California allows for a wide range in elevations within a small area.

Challenge accepted, I need to get into the hills before the snow comes.

Snowed already. 4 was closed for a bit.

Roads are all clean now, but real snow is fast approaching.

Saw that right after I posted. I'll have to watch the weather and see if I can get lucky, otherwise it'll have to wait till next year.

The referenced roads will remain open after the first snows, with the exception of maybe Silver Fork. Up to the first heavy snows they are great backroads.

How many of you get to ride on roads so inspiring?
