Today was the annual Festival of Italian Motorcycles(FOIM) in Melbourne. I got up early this morning with a plan of towing my Aermacchi Harley Davidson Ala Doro 350 the two hours from my home. It was such a nice day I just couldn't sit in the car all that time, even if it was to display my little red rocket.
On with the ridding gear and roll the Hyper out of the garage; key on and press the starter, a bit of a buzz, the flap valve opening an closing and dash reboots. Hmm, it would appear I have an electrical problem. Try a few more times .. nada. Roll it back into the garage, hook up the battery tender and roll out the Monster. Nice ride over some country roads on the Monster only served to remind me of how much I love the Hyperstrada. Get to the FOIM and take a few pictures, drool over some prize exotica, chat with a few Italnuts and make the trek back home over a few different country roads.
First thing I do is turn the key on the Hyper and bingo we have life. I now know how it behaves with a flat battery. It has only been two weeks since I rode the Hyper, so I fear I have a battery on the way out or maybe an issue has been created when the Heated Grips were fitted a few weeks back. Anyway, time will tell.
Here are a few pictures of some classics from the FOIM.
