Yes, the Hyperstrada is still very new, as it was just announced, but from what you know about it, what are your initial impressions?

i saw the three new hypers at Birmingham and was impressed with them. I do think that they need to do something with the seat as it pushes you toward the tank an is very uncomfortable

Hi Darsey, welcome to the site!

Did you have an opportunity to site on the new Hyperstrada when you were in Birmingham?

Any pics? :D

A dream became reality. In January it will be "Autosalon" in Brussels where also bikes are shown. I can't wait to see the Hyperstrada in real life.

Yea i sat on the hyperstrada and as i have an hypermotard 1100, the seat is a big decission maker for me. I like the seat on the bike that i have, but was not impressed with the seat on the new hypers. It made you sit very close to the tank. If Ducati were to make the seat more comfortable, this new hperstrada would be a real good bike. The seat was the only thing that concerned me.

I think this bike is going to kill multistrada sales. I forsee alot of Accessories for this bike. I believe these bikes might sell out. Ive got a deposit on mine. This is the bike ive wanted forever. Style wise i wouldnt change a thing. LOVE IT!

I dont agree with that, most Multi owners are all about the statis of having an up right sport bike and the smaller power and torque curve will push many away, I see a lot of "it doesnt have as much torque as the 848 SF why didnt they just put that motor in this?"

I for one love it! light weight, proper power and always loved the styling, yes hopefully there will be much aftermarket farkles for this!

I was looking at the multi, but i think the hyper fits me better. Multi doesnt seem as sporty size wise. Hyper looks like it might feel lighter. Im guessing consumers are scared away by sf 848 dry clutch chatter forcing ducati to use the new motor. The trend now is, smaller is better. Too a point at least.

SF848 has a dry clutch? Hmm, that's news to me and news to Ducati too...or maybe the dealer didn't perform the final check-over before selling it to your buddy!

Hyperstrada will not take away from Multi sales. Those are two completely different markets, plus anyone who rides the Multi and has the money for it will buy it. That is still the best bike on the market from any make right now. If you can get on a demo I highly recommend it, but don't do it unless you've got the dough to take it home then and there.

Why did Ducati put an 821cc motor in the Hyperstrada?? I've ridden a Hyper 1100 with a passenger and it was FANTASTIC aside from the wind buffeting. Obviously engine size isn't everything and they claim more torque and hp from the 821, but why make a motor that has to rev higher to reach that power for a bike that's all about raw? The Hyper 1100 is such a beast, especially in its latest incarnation with the EVO motor and I'm worried this new bike will be drastically tamer. I haven't sat on the Hyperstrada yet but if it's true the 'more ergonomic' seat pushes you into the tank, is it really a more ergonomic seat?

I was excited about this bike but for now Ducati has some questions to answer in my eyes. Anyway can't wait to ride one and stop speculating without experiencing it first-hand!

I though all street fighters had dry clutches. My bad if i was wrong. Its great that ducati is making a smaller touring style bike. Choice is a good thing , right? I plan on twisting the hell out of the throttle. Should be a fun bike!

 is an Italian

Probably at the Ducati they have a second tought " the Multistrada 1000 DS was good sale due to the afordable price for a well done bike ,12000 € , from 2003 till last year production 2009 ,from then was hard to reach the same profitability with the new production due to the High Price of the new Multistrada 1200 been in a recessing market and too expencive for the Young and beautfull ,around 20000 and more €, so what to buy been short of chash, maybe the Hypermotard , but is too sporty for too many, here the solution Hyper+Strada , unfortunaly the Hyperstrada have the same price of the Older Multistrada 1000 but a smaller engine and for whom have a 1000 under its hard to go lower, less power with the same money, different lay out but essential the same structure, so what to do?? I keep my older Multistrada 1000 DS , to day second hand available at 2600 € in Italy ebay , who knows maybe one day will rise the value that she deserve same as the Ducati Scrambler of 1971 to day at 5000 € used, Any how nice designe for the new born Hyperstrada , no black no white = Gray

I was really hoping this bike was going to be a viable alternative to an expensive Multistrada but after sitting on it at the NEC bike show the seat is very uncomfortable and 2 up touring is not an option in my eyes.

So I'm just gonna lump the cash up and buy a left over 2012 Multistrada.

I wasnt going to do any 2 up touring. Do you think the seat could be modified and recovered? What's the main problem, density, angle, shape?

Get your wife a bike to ride and you get the Hyper!!

I totally agree with Simmo, the seat of the Ducati are not the best, thats why lots of byke suppliers sale anti slippery covers and comfort gel to replace the original one, the same Ducati offer at higer price several upgrade options for its seats call Performance as lower seats, gel.
I personally create my own seats see the link Sella Multistrada 1000 DS Personalizzata a Genova - eBay Annunci where at the end of the installation I put on sale an additional seat for my Multistada 1000 DS bought in Ebay at 40€ for testing purpose and for keeping my byke on running because take hours to replace the pilot seat of a Ducati Multistrada 1000, I bought the second
Pilot seat also because I have to staple the new anti slipper carbon look cover bought for 89€ for 4 seats ( 2 for my bike,2 for trial, after I spent 50€ for both seats Pilot + Passenger for 8mm thick Gel , and a medium duty stapler 29€ , the difficult side of the job was to disinstall all the fuel thank and structure to replace the new seat, in short must remove all the fairings.
the outcome may be seen in my Facebook Ducati site https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.548644915165692.139734.547528438610673&type=3#!/ducatimulti or by this photos

Agreed. Choice is a great thing! I kept waiting for them to make a Multistrada 848/848 EVO; that would've worked really well and they could've skipped the Ohlins and all the electronics besides the riding modes to make it a more wallet-friendly machine. I do see numerous reasons why they didn't make that bike though, as well.
I see the Hyperstrada as less of an actual tourer and more of an AWESOME city bike that you can load some goods onto and get around efficiently on while having fun doing so. Lots of other makes have claimed to have produced such a bike, but I've yet to see it really executed. It'll probably still be fun to ride like a jacka** just like the last hyper but the Strada package may make it a really nice urban commuter like Ducati claims. I see someone commuting from just outside a major city to work and back home every day on this bike. That windscreen ain't gonna block enough air to make this bike terribly comfortable on long highway hauls...not to mention the Scorpion Trails that come stock on it don't achieve very high miles, especially if you're riding spiritedly on pavement on the weekends. Put some Angels on this guy and you've got a complete major player in the urban commuter segment.

I just felt that it pushed me forward onto the tank and then if my wife had got on the bike it would have been terribly uncomfortable!

So I just bought a left over 2012 Multistrada 1200 for £11500 with £1000 of accessories chucked in, considering the list price of the Hyperstrda being £10600 I think I have a good deal and the right bike for me.

Take care everybody!

Ducati girl checking out the hot guy on the Strada. Think I'm going to have to put some money down on one now that I sold the Monster.
