Hi,

My current ride is a HD XR1200X. I let my wife take it for a ride and, now I can't keep her off it. She has ZERO interest in her Honda Rebel now! I guess I'll just have to get a another bike...:D

After a fun test ride Saturday, I'm ready to bring a red Hyperstrada home. So, instead of going to work tomorrow, I'll be at the Ducati dealer, making a... "deal".

True that, jerdog!!

Well I ended up with a white one and brought it home today. I didn't want to wait a week for the red. Cool Ranch White, looks right anyways!

Before purchasing the Hyper, I thought that I would end up still riding the XR to work and kind of split my time between the two bikes. Wrong. I think it will be a long time before I get back on the XR!

The Hyper makes my XR feel like a dump truck!

That is the difference between and American made POS and a highly refined Italian job!

Just so you know the red ones are faster!

The quality of Japanese made bike is No.1.
What is different is design and the weight.

Ride safe!

So far, the only thing I miss on the Harley is the self canceling turn signals!

I keep the hyper in sport mode now, lots of fun!! This morning, on the way to work I wondered just how cold it was outside. I glanced down to the display and saw that it was 35° F. I like having all that info on the display. The hand guards kept my hands from going numb like they would at this temperature, on the Harley.

One thing I will change soon is the rear brake lever adjustment. It seems like I have to press down too far with my toe, to engage the rear brake. That is an easy fix. Oh yeah, I had it stall on me once for no apparent reason.

Break-in procedure:
I asked the salesmen about this. He told me that Ducati does not really have a break-in procedure. "Just ride it like normal", he says. "As long as you don't baby it and, don't abuse it, you're good to go." So, when I finally read the owner's manual, I find out that there really is a break-in procedure and I have been totally NOT following it! In the morning when I start it up, I think I am seeing smoke. I hope I didn't screw something up!

The hyper does have self canceling turn signals but you have to keep it below something like 45mph for half a mile before it will cancel. Most all of us fail to keep it that slow...to a fault.

There is a thread on here somewhere talking about breaking in procedure if you want

I think it's only due to cold temperature. Look at my location, it's pretty darn cold these days. You may also notice that she start at a lower rpm when cold. Give her few seconds of 3000 rpm and she'll rev happy.

Yeah, It was cold out! I'll stop worrying.

I parked it for now because I have over 800 miles on it; past due for the 600 mile service. My Dealer is about 2.5 hours away so, I'll schedule an appointment, load it in my truck and drive there. I'm back on the Harley for now.

I found out the hard way that the Hyper is much wider with the panniers attached:( I broke the latch of the left pannier when I rode into the garage between the truck parked inside, and garage door jamb. The left pannier hit the rear bumper of the truck and I almost went down with my wife on the back. The top latch, the one with the lock in it, got busted up. I bet that part is expensive. Stupid!
