High beams on when running (switch does nothing)

Hi all,

I did some searching and couldn't find a similar issue.

when i turn the bike on the high beams come on without the high beam indication on the dash, the switch does turn the indicator for the high beams on but does not appear to be changing the lights.

Has this happened to anyone else and am I being silly or could the relay have crapped the bed?

Only time this happened to me was when I had a bad LED bulb, not sure if that helps at all.

I think im gonna pull the headlight tonight and see if the bulb is bad but the high works in the meantime i suppose.

I would make sure the connector to the dash is on securely. not sure if you ever had it apart or not.

Im gonna pull it apart now and see what i find. Might as well replace the bulb while im in there tho

Update and conclusion.

the high side of the bulb had burnt out and then caused the low beam on constant. due to the bike having prior owners... they had wired led lights onto the bike and for some reason they went on high and decided to stay there when the bulb blew.

New light bulb has fixed the issue.

Makes sense if they wired it correctly. If the LED controller wasn't seeing the correct resistance, it would short to some mode. Glad you figured it out as lighting issues can get ugly.
