And of course my ******* neighbor that nearly ran me over with his pickup and never apologized kept coming out and revving up his obnoxiously loud garage queen hog while I was working on my bike. Now he just made a big show of actually riding the thing down the alley. Whatever, I go through a set of tires in the time it takes him to go through a tank of gas.

I tried to change my oil today and I can't get the drain plug loose for the life of me. If I put any more torque on it it's going to strip the head. Why use an allen head here?

Anybody here have this problem?

Yeah... it's kinda crappy. I thought mine was going to strip, but it ended up loosening. Can you grab onto it with a pipe wrench from the outside?

I think you can swap in a different version with a hex head or something. See here: Magnetic Drain Plugs for Ducati Motorcycles
Any M12x1.5 that isn't too long should work fine.

Yeah this thing is a joke. If I ever get it off It's getting replaced with something that makes sense in this application.
I've applied penetrating oil but I don't know what good it will do with the crush washer in the way.

With a square edge Allen socket and a long handle socket wrench the drain bolt is easily removed. If not a tight fit, add foil of tape. Very tight fit.

People often try the round head Allen tools and round out the opening.

I'll second this. The key is the long handle and moving slowly. Using something as long as a breaker bar, albeit moving it very slowly, is better that whacking a short handle because it's too tight.

I changed the oil on my bike two days ago and I didn't have trouble with the drain plug but I had a really hard time loosening the oil filter. The guys at the Ducati dealership definitely tightened it over 11 Nm, to the point that I doubted myself on whether I was tightening it rather than loosening it (I was not).

I'm guessing my wrenches aren't up to the job. I'll hit the hardware store and see what if anything they have better.
I'll try the tape too.
I'm going up to the mountains again this weekend and really need this dang oil changed....
I'd rather replace the air filter all over again, it was easier than this drain plug nuisance
