I'm new to Hypers and Ducatis. I've always like Ducs but my other bikes have kept me away (R1150S and RC51). Dealer offered me a deal on an old floor model, 200 mile test ride later I'm giving him $1K to buy.

This bike is fun to ride despite the suspension, which I will fix. I'm grateful for the posts on this site on how to do that. Looks like I'll be be getting Italian cartridges to start. Better forks and rear shock will be on my list for later.

Bought used Remus slip-on (left db killer in) and T-Rex frame sliders from another forum member. Very easy to install.

Big improvement in sound, T-Rexs are just in case but still need more slider protection.

OK, I'm in a motorcycle advanced rider safety course and still breaking her in (less than 1000km). Just finished my last exercise/drill and bike stalls while idling. Feels like it wants to run on one cylinder. This is a brand new bike!

One of the instructors suggests I remove the gas cap (vapor lock?). I'm doubtful and then I go to remove it and the suction on cap has a death grip on it. Get it off and hear all this gurgling. Something is not right with the vent. By now I've already called for a tow. Half hour later he arrives (that was quick) and my gas tank has stopped gurgling. So what the hell, let's see if she'll start. It's rough but it starts, clears out and idles fine. $60 later for showing for the tow, I'm riding home skipping the tow.

Now I'm on this forum looking for why and it was here. Carbon canister is now off. Thank you, everything pretty much worked as you said it would. I just added some clamps and ty-wraps to keep the vent/drain line from moving around and tight to stuff. Time for my first service. Sorry for the dark pic, I was up late in my garage watching MotoGP while doing this, so the lighting sucks (also rotated 90 degrees).

Ducati alarm was next. Thanks again to a board member. I can't believe how loud it is and piercing.

Yep. Even has a little hole in the ECU strap to line up. Took 5 mins to install. You have to remove the tool kit (permanently). Space-wise, this is a tight bike. Did my 1000km service (rear hugger screw vibrated out and gone and somehow lost an exhaust spring). Picked up my heated grips today.

OK, I haven't got to the heated grips yet but soon. Meanwhile my Puig taller windshield and top box mount arrived today, so now they're on.

Awesome. Farkling a bike can be so fun!

I recommend a radiator guard sooner rather than later. This radiator likes to get dented easily and since it's black it shows up. I like my R&G one because it doesn't have the embossed 'EP' on it like the evotech one, but that's just a matter of preference.

Radiator/engine guard are on order from EvoTech. Hear you on the raised part, almost bought the R&G. Put heated grips on tonight, just need to get the dealer to turn them on. Working on putting GPS (old Zumo 550) on next, need to cut off stock SatNav connector put a Molex.

I hear you on the black anodize. Thinking of the same for this and the mounts for the Givi Trekker cases I'm thinking of getting black anodize (I have them). Haven't decided yet.

Meanwhile, my heated grips are installed and the dealer (PJ's in ABQ NM) turned them on and didn't charge me to do it. Very cool of them. They've been great to deal with. These are nicer than my Beemer heated grips with more settings.

Working on hooking up GPS next, ordered correct connectors to plug into stock harness so I don't have to cut the connector off. Digikey has the connectors and pins and they are CHEAP. Here's part # if you want them:
1) connector housing - Digikey # 455-1205-ND (you'll need 1 of these)
2) pins - Digikey # 455-1321-1-ND (you'll need 2 of these)

Added case slider today and connector parts (fits stock Ducati connector) for GPS (Zumo 550) wiring arrived this week. I thought the case slider would somehow cover the water pump but I was wrong. It's R&G but I left the sticker off.

Didn't get to the GPS wiring today but did get my new EvoTech radiator and front cylinder head guards on. One word of caution, the lower third bolt to mount the front cylinder head guard, should be 20mm long. Although maybe you can get a 16mm (what it comes with) to work, you will not be engaging all the threads in the mounting nut with 16mm. 20mm gives a couple of threads past the nut (what you want).

Why I hit submit instead of attach....sorry about the rotation...

OK, pulling the trigger on the Mupo fork and shock upgrade. I'm going the same way RSL went and with the same guy (I know Roger from the BMW R1100S Pelican forum board). I suspect the bike will be sitting for a couple of months... :-(

Forks are still being worked. Mupo all in but still waiting on coatings to finish. Meanwhile, more junk to install. Tonight a water pump slider and a Hammerhead shift lever with pivoting tip (just in case). This has the 10mm extension.

forks

Mupo is in, upper fork tubes are now black anodized (pic below) and still waiting for RaceTech to finish DLC'ing lower tubes. Then it's all ready to go together...
