Hi All

My 2015 Hyperstrada is due its first major service - so the big one with belt changes etc
I've just rang the local Ducati dealer and to be blunt my jaws just hit the floor when he quoted me £1500 for the service!?!?!
This cant be correct can it? I wasnt expecting it to be cheap but thats come in about 2-3 times what I was expecting.

If this is the normal dealer price is can anyone reccomend a non dealer establishment that would be able to do it at a slightly more reasonable price around Manchester / North West.

Thanks

Gaz.

I'd ask for a itemized list of estimate. I'm sure there's plenty of "check torque of _____ fastener" that you can do yourself. Probably an oil and filter(s) change in there, which you can probably do yourself. If you haven't replaced your chain/ sprocket, definitely time. A reputable Duc private shop can handle this job.

Search the forum. There's plenty of thread on this topic. I paid about 600 Euro for cam belts, valve check and some other random work at a non-dealer. My valves were fine and I ride her very hard.

My 2018 is coming up on this and I'm kinda expecting about that expense. I think it's pretty robust, flush fluids, change oil, filter and plugs along with the belt and valve service. I'm considering this an investment in the bikes future in case anything comes up that might be a warranty or good faith issue with Ducati in the future. That said, once the bike it out of extended warranty there's a great shop, albeit less convenient to get to, that'll get my business for any work I can't do myself.

I just had this done at Pro Italia, in Glendale (Southern California). Parts were $447 and labor was $897.

Yikes. The labor rate in Italy is nearly half the US rate. Parts are made here so probably savings there, too. Again, if you're comfortable removing the tank to get to the plugs/ air filter and can do the other basic items, just have them do the belts and valves, though you'll at least be paying for 4.5 quarts of oil. Was the chain and sprocket part of the service?
