Is 2013 Hyperstrada 821 suitable for 6ft6 (197cm) rider?

Hello folks,
I have been very interested with hyperstrada concept since I saw it's video years ago. Now there is one available in my country, I wonder if I will feel weird on it.
My concern is the space between me and the dash/windscreen stuff. everybody says that the rider is too close.
I am planning to use it mostly on touring through twisties. By the way wind protection and how I will look on it is not my concern since my previous bikes were small: Honda CBR250R and NC700S.
Thanks in advance.

I am just under 6ft 2in with long legs/arms. I have an SP model with a hyperstrada tail (it’s easy to switch). I also installed the factory heated grips. I don’t use the touring windscreen because my chin would almost hit it when riding in the twisties. I find the airflow is cleaner and more quiet with the tiny carbon screen.

I suggest you find an SP and put the hyperstrada tail on it. The SP suspension is much better.

Bar end mirrors also reduce wind buffeting and noise.

The standard HS is rather close-coupled, seat to bars, even for me at 5'6". However, it is possible to rotate the 'bars forward a bit, and the flatter racing seat would probably allow you to sit higher and further back. I've not changed my seat because the bike is plenty high enough already for me!

Thanks for replies. Unfortunately, there is no SP in the market but one or two HM 821 or 796. Based on rarity changing seat or bars may cost half of the bike's price due to my country's (Turkey) low value currency. It looks like I need to chase a MS 950 or 1200 for my first Ducati.

kzl,

Good luck with your quest and let us know how you get on with joining the Ducati cognescenti!

Get the HS and put the race seat on. Race seat still available from ducati, I just bought one for £270 not bad at all. Such awesome bikes

Hi tall guy.

The HS is a 'compact' bike.
I never really noticed "space between me and the dash/windscreen" being a problem, although the geometry does put you quite forward over the front.

It's worth having a sit-on or better a test ride if you can. It's a great tool for conquering twisty roads.
Good luck whichever way you choose.

I’m 6’6” as well and I’ve got a 2014 821 SP. I did find it a bit cramped with the original seat so I switched it out for the racing seat. Made all the difference and it’s quite comfortable now.

Rode the 950 SP also and it was better still.

I am planning to ride with my wife as a passenger. I doubt she will be happy on race seat on the pillion. 😅

To be honest, the Hyperstrada / Motards aren't really good bikes for 2-up riding, particularly if one of more of the passengers are on the larger side. Multi is gonna be a better option.

Hey, if you fit on CBR250 you will fit well on HStrada. No worry!

I have 1,88cm and no dificult. I do like good on the bike, indeed.

Did not you tested any before?

I didn't. There was only one on the market. The matter bothered me was the distance between rider and the handlebars.
Anyways, I decided with a 2017 Triumph Tiger 800 XR and I am very happy now. My new targets are V2 and DesertX though :)
