Finally, decided a couple of weeks back to trade my HS for a 2015 Triumph Speed Triple. It has been a fun to ride the HS except few incidents (clutch cable snap, throttle sensor failure etc...) which put me in a dangerous situation on road. Great handling, sporty riding position, reliability (at least better than Ducati), proven and improved design (since 1996), excellent after market accessories availability, better looking etc were considered during the trade-in.

But i will miss the Ducati logo, commanding road view, luggage system etc

Here a few pics...

Surprised you chose this over the 'strada - I test rode one and found it quite bland. Sure it's good at everything, just nothing about it screamed 'passion' like other bikes I've owned/ridden. What was your main reason for changing?

What was your main reason for changing?

With God's grace I narrowly escaped two times from accidents because of the throttle sensor failure, and in total three times i took it to the dealer to rectify this issue in a year and it still happens. After the first month of the purchase itself i realized that this is not my bike and day by day a fear grown in me whenever i approached the bike. Surprisingly this doesn't affect majority of the owners. And after a year's struggle finally i got rid of the bike.

Aprilia Tuano was first in my list followed by Speed Triple and Ninja1000.

Too bad you had a bad experience, but glad you are ok. Dealer should have stepped up and fixed it properly for you. I understand why you would want to switch.

Wow I'm sorry to hear of your situation....I can understand why you would want to trade this bike.

NOW....a triple....really... I had an older Triple and lemme tell ya they get kinda boring. Why not go for that Aprilia? Triumphs are great bikes don't get me wrong about that but I think that you're going to want to trade this right quick for something more....fun?!?

I've owned Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Ducati and now why not a Triumph. And i can tell you that the new Triumphs are far ahead in the league when compared to the old ones. As per the dealer for Aprilia i've to wait till end of the year because of the model change

I gotta second GR8's comments on the Tuono. Having experienced both I think it's a far better bike than the Speed Triple. That V4 engine is a dream, and a lot more exciting than the triple IMO. Chassis is also better. But, after all, you gotta go with what floats your boat. Good luck man!!

Dude, the Tuono is a twin.

As for Triumph triples, I've had two of the early Hinckley models. Even visited the factory (before it burned down). They were okay, enjoyed the feel of the triple's vibes but they were very heavy. Would not swap my Strada for any of them.

The biggest joke is their current twin cylinder line...veritable boat anchors. Light is right!

PS 777 get, heh heh.

Ok, I'm no expert on Aprilia, but they do make/sell Tuono models that are 65 degree V4s. Nice bikes...

Yep, they started using a detuned V4 from the RSV4 in the 2012 onwards Tuono.

I haven't ridden the V4 Tuono but I have ridden the RSV4 and it's an absolutely exquisite engine. Too bad the RSV4 felt like trying to ride a childs bicycle due to it's size though... absolutely tiny!
