Lost vertical cylinder cam timing somehow.... :(

So I changed out some shims, got everything back together and started her up. I heard a clacking sound coming from the vert cylinder. It sounded like it was coming from the vert intake valve. The sound was like the cam timing is off. I shut it off and reopened the head. I rotated the engine a couple of times and everything seems to be rotating without interference. I don't know how but it seems i lost the cam timing on the vert cylinder. Maybe by 1 tooth or more? Does anyone know how to reacquire the cam timing? When I reopened it up , the marks i made previously on the vert cams don't align with the valve cover seals anymore. See pic. Also did a vid explaining the issue.
Anyone know if the T marks on the vert cylinder are supposed to be aligned in some way? I know the cam timing on the horizontal, the T marks are pointing towards the spark plug hole.

These are my vertical markings with Horizontal on TDC (aligned the dot in the cam driving gear with the notch in the clutch cover). Look that the “inverted T” points up. Maybe you offset the markings in the vertical belt while replacing it?

Thanks for the pic bruno. I got back the timing now. The cam must have moved 1 or 2 teeth while i was refitting the belt even though i had the cam locking tool in place. I just didnt notice. I started it up and no knocking now. But i still have the engine light on. Guess ill take it to the dealer. When you used Melcodiag to read the engine error, did it tell you what specifically what part of the engine had an issue? Does it work by showing you just the error code and you look it up online? Or does it say the name of the part that is broken like temp sensor, or valve train etc? I just need a connector plug and the software right?

It shows a code and a short description. You need to search the error codes meaning.
You need the ELM interface and the connector to the ecu diag port. Lonelec provides the cables that works with Melcodiag.

Does the “error” message appears on the dashboard? If so you can read the error code by accessing the settings menu.

My dash only has the engine light and says errors. When I go into the menu, it only says engine with no other info. Hence why I was thinking I need the Lonelec unit to read the code. But I'm thinking I should take it to the dealer this time as my bike has never been hooked up to a Duc computer, so maybe there are some firmware updates I should get as well. I think there was one for the ride by wire?

This link says it's for the Multistrada. I'm guessing it works for the Hypermotard too? I'm hoping this one matches my ECU. I read another person tried one of these (not the one in your link) and he couldn't get it working. I understand they can read the error codes for you but can't reset the oil/desmo service warnings right? At this point, I'm thinking it's a bad o2 sensor that is giving me the CEL. But I won't know for sure unless I buy this or take it to the dealer. I'm researching about the Rapidbike Evo now. I'm guessing when I changed my exhaust to a Project SC and performance intake filter and then didn't tune the bike, these changes might have slowly caused damage to the 02 sensors over time but it's just a guess.

A 2014 will definitely have some updates due from Ducati. I've burned out an O2 sensor or two between the two hyper's I've had, it's too bad the dash isn't capable of giving more information for things like this which should be a simple fix.

Yes. This is the same harness I have for the Hypermotard.

You're right. You can see/clean error codes, but not the service warnings. The Melcodiag developer didn't figured how to do it on iaw7sm Marelli ECU.

Many has had issues with O2 sensors burning. I got rid of them with the T800 map (full termi, no lambda). Bike runs way better than before.

Cheers Bruno
I went ahead and ordered this ELM multi tool with duc connector. I'm assuming when I download the MelcoDiag software I have to pay for a license? Do you remember how much it is?

I ended up taking my bike to Ducati to have them read the error with the Duc software. They said my servo motor was causing the Engine CEL.
Not sure I believe that. And they didn't even reset the error to see if it comes up again. So I might as well do it myself.

Hi Saken,
Don’t need to pay for personal use. If I recall correctly there’s a button in the main screen that’s sends you to a page to request the license file. It will forward your VIN to JP and send you the license file to your email.
