Lower handlebar risers

Has anybody changed out their risers for something lower? I have removed the factory spacers, but would like something lower still. I would also like to retain the 7/8" diameter bars. I do not take the bike on the dirt (intentionally that is) and cover a lot of highway miles commuting. My weekend riding is in the twistys.

Yes, but to get lower you need some drag bars or clubman style bars. The stock bars only have about 1.5" of rise. I was thinking lower risers and keep the stock bars. I also think your options for different bends is better if you want to try something besides stock with the lower risers. When you change bars you also either have to drill holes in the bars for the locating pins in the throttle/switch pods or grind the pins off. I am just toying with the idea right now

Just throwing the idea out there. I think CNC Racing and Ducabike both have aftermarket mounts, but I'm not sure about their height compared to stock.

Have you got any tips for removing the original spacers?
I can get the right hand side one out but not the left. There is a rubber grommmet or plug or something in the way underneath. How are you guys doing this?
