This review pans the Hyper. Interesting read though to get a journalist's view.

Thanks I watched this MCN review before I traded my 2011 Multi for the Hyper. The review I refer to is in the latest Motorcyclist magazine. It is the cover story.

I just scoured Motorcyclists site. Didn't find a single Strada comparo article. Just post the link.

Main gripes are it's small, light and twitchy. Most of which I bought it for. I could do 500 mile days on my Strada. I would definitely need a cold adult beverage on the back end, but I could do it. Did almost 400 in the rain for 1st service trek. Done that trip 3 times now.

I have done 500 miles in one day no problem!

Always have a cold adult beverage on the back end!!!

The SMT has such a good write up that if the problems with my Hyper are not fixed soon, it may be my next bike. Although the new Yamaha MT-03 / FZ whatever triple looks good.

-SMT is .5" taller than Strada; much bigger bike and quite a few sized this bike to fit the vertically challenged. I'm not that short but I liked the small, lawn-dart feel.
-Luggage won't fit more than a change of clothes; doesn't lock
-Fuel mileage is mid 30's
-$14K
-No ABS/TC/Slipper Clutch/Power modes

Again, bang for the buck and versatility. You would have to spend at least $800 to get usable touring panniers (which may not lock). 10-15 mpg less would add up at the pump. By this point you'd have to re-evaluate what you want, because a Bimmer or Multi makes more sense if you simply looking for a better tourer.

Oh, it sucks you're have such issues but overall the Strada is performing quite well for first year out. Biggest nags have been solved with ECU updates and, of course, nobody but me likes the panniers...

Yeah, you're right and I kinda know I'll keep the Strada. Not going to get into the issues here but I'd love to get the front end sorted.

If that Triumph as here though id be all over it (sold my 2010 Tiger SE to buy the Strada)

Triumphs are sweet. My class instructor had a Tiger and the engine sounded like nothing I'd ever heard before. Handled just as smooth as it sounded during slow speed demo's.

We'll I have ridden 750miles in a day on my hyperstrada, 500 of which were in the rain. As far as it not being a long distance touring bike, how about 7000 miles in 16 days. Very impressed with the little bike... Sold my bmw gs 1200 adventure and bought the hyper and I am happy with my descision.

nobody but me likes the panniers...

Looks there are two of us who like the panniers gatdammit. They are light and roomy enough for gear for a week, they are easy enough to get on and off now that I have given the locks a squirt with lubricant and the liner bags although a bit bulky, certainly keep the water out. I also think the mounting system is well integrated, unobtrusive and functional. The last bike I had with panniers was my first bike, a Honda CB72 and the panniers were in fact leather saddle bags with buckle down flaps and you threw them over the pillion seat, that was in 1973..... they have certainly come a long way in the last 40 years.

If my helmet didn't fit, I'd hate them. I have a full-face AGV and I couldn't imagine having to carry that brick around with me everwhere.

It had to be said again!!

This is the second or third review I've read where they complain about the clutch being grabby. I haven't had that issue at all. Any one else?

Cold my clutch has the bandwidth of an fm radio channel.

Ive seen too many comparisons with the litre bikes. Its not a litre bike.
I like my panniers but they could be better. Ive got the Multi top fitted and it looks great and the GF gives it 2 thumbs up for the added comfort. The lockable feature is very nice.
