Oil Change "Timing" Question

Hi, I now have 2000 miles on my Strada. I had the service done at 600 so I only have 1400 miles on the oil and filter. However it took me almost a year to put those 1400 miles on. The oil doesn't look particularly dark yet but I was wondering about the year old oil? Change it? btw, I mainly ride country roads north of Washington, some city but not too much.

I only put around 1500 miles a year on mine. I change the oil once a year in the fall when I put the bike away for the winter. Oil can get acidic over time I don't want to worry about how it might affect the bearings with everything stationary for so long.

Thanks. I am able to ride the bike pretty much all year long. It never goes more than two weeks without a ride but mostly once or twice a week, just in general not long rides. I'm going to go ahead and service it.

I read an article that was an interview with the blackstone labs (oil analysis) founder. He said the time factor for oil was not a factor as long as it's not super old. If you don't have the miles, the oil doesn't suddenly expire after 1 year. Now he's not some kind of oil god but I'm guessing he does have some first hand experience to show why that's the case. I personally would not worry about leaving it in there, especially with only 1500 miles on it.
