And I am ecstatic. Upgrading from an 08 Ninja 250r (bought new) that I've put 12k miles on which was my first bike since high school (am old now).

About 6 months ago I started a freeway commute and the result was that I was just constantly thrashing the ninja. WoT is fun, but there's little margin for error when you are constantly pushing the bike to it's max. Although, really that's just an excuse. I've been plotting since 2013, shopped a little last fall, and finally pulled the trigger.

And now... good lord this thing is savage. I thought I'd miss the 14k redline a little, but when the bike is happy to throw you off the back when you grab a handful of throttle at almost any speed, who cares how fast it's spinning?

Only managed to put 150 miles on it so far, about 5 on a gravelly levee road (in Urban mode ironically enough) and if the seat was just a touch narrower I may have never gotten off of it.

Need a tank bag (thinking givi tanklock) and more saddle time. And something for this permagrin.

This is my primary mode of transportation. I'm pretty sure I've won at life. :D

Congrats on the new bike.. :D

I will recommend a tail bag option rather than a tank bag. For one, it's inconvenient to remove the tank bag to fuel because there really isn't a flat surface to balance a bag (or the gas cap). Where a tail bag really becomes a super convenient trunk space, one that you won't kick while getting on/off the bike, plus you don't feel or see the bag while riding and it doesn't look horrible.

Welcome to the madness :)

And, yes, a tail bag will be much more convenient. My only gripe is the small tank.

Thanks guys. My brain is really insisting that I have to have tank bag, but I may relent. You guys do make good points though: Ugly, in the way, ugly...

Problem is I'd like my DSLR to be at hand for pulling over and taking pictures without getting off the bike. It'd be safer in a top case though... and I'm not sure how I often I would just wind up off the bike anyway with the camera. It's not like I'd be sneaking up on wildlife.

A problem for later, there's all this riding that needs doing. :)

It's all about choice. I use a tank bag and just undo the front two clips and it folds back out of the way. I've just had to reinforce the base fitting because it was starting to tear but that was easily done.

I keep the fone and camera in the tank bag.....find it easy to access and don't think it's ugly. The Ducati bag (which is made by Givi, I think) holds 12 litres in it's compressed state and 16 when it's fully expanded.

It doesn't get in the way when riding.

I have a motocentric and I did some sewing on it to eliminate some of the shifting left or right. One clip at the seat meets tank and it easily moves to side with plenty of room to access and fill the tank. All is great except IT'S NOT WATERPROOF. I keep all my electronics in there, right? My first tank bag and I wasn't thinking.
So I'd look for a waterproof tank bag.
Has anyone tried Ducati's tank bag and what do you think, is it waterproof? It's around $250. For a Ducati accessory I call that cheap. Wolfman tankbag is another contender I'd likely go for because it would be less flashy.

Congrats on your new Hyper! Hope you enjoy riding yours as much as I do my '15...so far, at 1,500 miles (~2,400 km) it's the perfect bike for me.

Hi Joecati,

I have the Ducati bag and it comes with a plactic cover that slips over it. It also comes with an additional slip on case that sits on the top...designed for your tablet or iPad....you can actually use the tablet throught the plastic....so it appears to be conductive. It holds a 10.1 inch Samsung without issue.

I also have used the power point under the left side of the tank for power to the phone or tablet...and also used it to power the GoPro.

There is also a shoulder stap if you want to take it when you leave the bike.

Wait till you get more than 3000ks up and you can start to spank it :) They really loosen up nicely....:D

How easy is the Ducati bag to pop on and off? I've always used the magnetic ones that leave the bike when you do.

My current solution is just throwing the old tank bag in a pannier because my lunch fits in it and it's already full of my stuff.

Break in on this bike I believe was the 3rd circle of Hell in Dante's Inferno. Miles are going on fast though.

There is a base plate of flexible padded material that stays on the bike all the time. Takes about 10mins to fit...it has a hole for the fuel filler.

Then the bag itself is connected to this base by four bayonet clips. You can have the bag off in about 30 seconds even with your gloves on.

I undo the front two and fold/lean the bag back so I can fuel. Happy to post pictures if needed but the reason I purchased the Ducati bag (and yes it cost) was that it looked simple and easy to live with and had capacity to carry what I wanted. I have no regrets with the purchase and given the milage I've done I reckon I've fueled up about 85 times with out issue.

Occassionally it's a ***** to get the key in if you have your gloves on and have to squeeze your hand in front of a full bag but this will probably be the case with all tank bags.

That actually sounds kind of perfect. I'd written that one off for cost, but if it does the job. A couple of photos would be great if you don't mind.
