Raising the bars

I feel like I could do with about an extra inch of height on the bars. I know a few of you guys have raised them. What's the cheapest and easiest way to achieve this in your experience?

You sure you want an inch? That seems like a whole lot of lift.

What makes you feel that they need to be higher?

It was after the Duc was in teh shop for the 6 weeks it took them to fix the coil issue - I went back to my CBR1000RR, which is hunched, as you can imagine.

Coming back to the Duc, I love the upright bars, especially for the city riding I do, but I just need them a touch higher. Somewhere between 0.5-1" I reckon would put the bars in the perfect place for me, but I gotta cut my spending to the minimum right now.

The cheap option may be finding someone over there that has removed their handlebar clamp spacers, and sourcing some longer bolts. The length is close to 0.75 inches, and you could remove material to adjust from there if needed.

I'd be wary of adding extra flex with this option. As is, some people on this site have said the bar risers don't fare well in a tip over situation. Just food for thought. I'd be looking for new handlebars.

I added less than an inch to my bars and didn't like it for aggressive street-style riding. It felt like a dirt bike or like my v-strom. Very comfy though!

Interesting, thanks for sharing man. My main aim is to just allow me to straighten up my back a bit more, which I can't do unless I'm practically on the tank.

But I am a very aggressive rider, so if this would hamper my riding style I guess I'll just deal with it!

Anybody else found raising the bars to detract from the riding experience?

I forgot to mention I have the SP, which is already 20mm lower than yours. Not sure how this equates to raising the strada. It's cheap, I say give it a shot and you can easily revert back. Just get longer bolts, new nuts (stock thread pitch is very fine and you might have a hard time finding a longer bolt with the same pitch), and buy or make a spacer. Even washers would work temporarily.

Only thing to keep in mind is the cables/wires. Will an additional 20mm pull on them too tightly?

Ah brilliant idea kuksul! It'll be great to stack it up with washers to test the height first and see how it feels before committing fully.
