Removing Hyperstrada 821 Handlebar Risers

I'll make this short and sweet. After a few months of ownership of the Hyperstrada 821, I noticed that though I love the upright commanding seating position aided by the higher handlebars on the HS 821, my torso also seems to struggle to keep up with the bike and I catch my self falling backwards during sudden acceleration, which is often on this bike. I even almost lost control once when experiencing this for the 1st time. I learned that I have to maintain a constant forward leaning position and to engage my core muscles more during acceleration to appropriately ride this wild buck. Now since the only difference in bar height between the Hyper and the Strada is the addition of 2 removable 20mm risers, I thought it should be easy enough to remove the added risers and try the bike for a while with the lower handlebar and slightly more forward leaning position. I feel like this would be a more suitable seating position for this bike, and especially this high torque engine.
The QUESTION finally! Do I need to replace the bolts for shorter ones since I'm losing 20mm in height by removing the risers, or is there a way the same bolts can be adapted to be used without the risers?
Cheers!

Interesting question! Maybe your arms are longer than most?
Shorter bolts should be simple to find and quite cheap if there's no other way to do it. Of course, you may find it less easy to do wheelies with the change in weight distribution if that's your thing. Otherwise, change the map to Touring for a softer start so it doesn't catch you unawares.

Nice reply! Just curious though... how does it affect the wheelie performance if I'm only reverting the handlebar position back to the Hypermotard configuration. Can one say that the Strada is better at wheeling than a Hyper simply due to the raised handlebar? Sure you have 20mm less suspension travel on the front of the Strada but that works against it in terms of weeling. Anywho, I'm 57 years old and not to keen on wheeling down my street any day soon, which makes this a mute topic.
Now regarding getting caught by surprise, that is exactly the issue I'm trying to resolve by lowering the handlebar. As far as the modes are concerned, I keep it on Sport with Traction on 1, ABS on 2 and full engine power of course. Otherwise it defeats the purpose. šŸ˜ƒ

Another thought here... The 'strada seat locks you in position, close to the bars. Getting a "race seat" allows you more mobility. I love being able to scoot my ass back on the hwy to help me lean into the wind better.

You have to replace the bolts with shorter ones. As I remember they would be the bolts used on the hypermotard as it didn't have the risers. I did this a years ago, and like the results.
