All:

I had trouble with by RH pannier - it was very difficult to remove.

I ended up taking the locking mechanism apart and applied some grease to the moving parts and....viola! problem solved. See link below (not mine...but sure came in handy!).

Sure it works fine for initial use, it penetrates well and offers some lubrication. However, it is not intended for long term use as a lubricant. Do yourself a favor and squirt some silicone or dry lube in there.

So true.

WD-40 is mostly kerosene and as such penetrates and provides short term lubrication. Also a top choice for chain cleaning, as it is shown to not harm O-rings in any measurable way.

But, it isn't a long term lubricant.
