Starace is about to release his new line of hand guards for the Hypermotard line. They are said to fit 1100,796,821,939 and the 950. They will have an option of integrated mirrors and option for integrated turnsignal(shows is the optional integrated signals). The turnsignal are said to have blank off plates for track days. The blank off plates will have a Starace logo on them. This is the finished product and production is soon to start. No announcement on pricing yet.Screenshot_20201222-165707_Messenger_resize_14.jpgScreenshot_20201222-165717_Messenger_resize_65.jpgScreenshot_20201222-165726_Messenger_resize_10.jpg

I wonder how they'll look. The styling seems like something that would fit on a Husqvarna but might be too symmetrical for a Ducati?

He has released them for the scrambler too. I think they would fit the scrambler very well as far as asthenic. But, i have a feeling these will look good on the hyper as well.

I think these will look good on the Hyper, certainly better than the Barkbusters I have mounted, though I think my Storms provide better wind protection and crash protection which was the main reason I went with them. I am intrigued by the Star.ace guards, but I've switched bars and don't have the original mounting hardware which would make mounting them tricky or an added cost.

I am in the same situation. I'm not sure they will mount to my protaper bars and true radial master cylinders.

I'd be weary of the price if you go down. I've dropped my bike twice (cleaning/moving it) and had one low speed dump. Each time the respective side's handguard exploded. The 1st gen OEM plastic junk is understandable and not super expensive to replace. The DP metal spine held up on the low speed dump but the plastic insert around the signal disintegrated, and I have very beefy T-Rex sliders. Luckily, the LED turn signal is the most expensive part and I was able to order just the plastic insert and salvage the indicator.

So, looks like you'd be out at least $200 to replace, and that's if you can order a single. Plus, Star.ace has a controversial history regarding production and delivery of promised items.

True on the price / damage, but I assume when buying expensive bling that a crash will cost me. Case and point being the LightTec peg / shift / brake levers I bought. They're perdy and the pegs offer a nice wide platform but I don't expect there'd by anything left in a slide and probably not in a drop either. I dropped the bike on it's right side while being a little over zealous getting it on the rear stand which was enough to break the stock rear brake lever. The Barkbusters and rear wheel slider took the rest of the impact so no paint was harmed, I din't think anything less substantial would have held up.

Cross cut view of the new hand guards. Looks like he is using the same idea that Koenigsegg is to allow for withstanding impact and still being on piece. Excited to see a 3D view on a bike and to find out if it will work with my aftermarket master cylinders and bars. SmartSelect_20210104-091716_Facebook_resize_77.jpg

A few of the additional options. Apparently a few of the Ducati race team has done some wind tunnel testing on these and came up with this add on deflector that helps areodynamics. They also have removable bar end sliders for various different bars.Screenshot_20210122-074312_Facebook_resize_66.jpgScreenshot_20210122-074954_Facebook_resize_49.jpgScreenshot_20210122-074942_Facebook_resize_76.jpgScreenshot_20210122-074922_Facebook_resize_70.jpgScreenshot_20210122-074332_Facebook_resize_28.jpg

That guy has some skills for sure. Looks like high quality work.

That said I don't really get it. You lose the integrated turn signal, some wind protection, and they just look like plastic handguards.

They have a intigrated turnsignal option. They also have a bar end mirror options. But all optioned out including mirrors, intigrated turnsignal, replaceable bar end sliders and the areodynamics package they will mostlikely be pretty expensive. But, factoring in the cost of all those things seperatly, aftermarket hand guards, aftermarket turnsignal, replaceable bar end sliders it might be in the same ballpark as piecing together your own parts. We will find out once they are available for sale end see what they look like in peoples hands

This is interesting. There is an optonal(or included) hands free tool that might be available for taking the hand guards off on track days. In not sure how the bar end sliders will be retained if the guards come off. I think it's a great idea but most track guys bring atleast a hand full of tools on track days. We will see how it all comes together as a package. SmartSelect_20210123-092211_Facebook_resize_0.jpgSmartSelect_20210123-092627_Facebook_resize_57.jpg

The Race Wings have got to be a joke, surely? Just another way to lever some money out of gullible riders...
