I put a deposit down in April, and called the dealer last month, but still no word on my Hyper. Has anyone else had the same issue? I notice many of the bikes arrived in early May, but apparently not the red one I reserved.

My dealer received 2 red and one white Hyperstrada. Both red's were reserved and the white one became their demo. This was part of the first batch of Hyperstrada's to hit the US. You might try and call some of the other dealer's in your region to see if they have a red one.

I'm sure Duc blew their load getting the intial batches out and it will surely be a while till the next round of deliveries. They ride a boat from Italy in wooden boxes and I can only imagine what a nightmare US customs ports are like these days.

From what my dealer told me was that the first container in had the Hypermotards that were to be dealer demos, the second container that came in April had the pre order bikes and the third one which should have hit the beginning of May would have bikes for inventory stock. It kind of sounded like the US receives a container of bikes every week or two. They go into the Ducati USA distribution center then shipped to dealers.

...and that means high-volume dealers first.

Not necessarily, depends if and when the dealers put their orders in. I got a call from a new dealer not to far from me to let me know they had one to check out. It just so happens that I was already working with another dealer when they took Ducati on. Some of the small dealers may not have want to take a risk with the new Hyperstrada until they had an order or saw that they were selling well. All though volume dealers probably get some sort of preferential treatment. Here in the NW and mountain region the Adventure bikes sell well so dealers didn't see it as a risk and did pre orders.;)

My local dealer has had one on open order for some months and thinks it will be in towards the end of June. He said he could get them faster if they were presold but still didn't know exact time frame. There's a shop down near Charlotte that shows one on their inventory on line but it's 2 hours each way so I don't really have time to just nip down there and scope it out :(

Good news!

I had all but given up on my local dealer, after seeing everyone get their bikes and ride them around, so I emailed a dealer in Ohio about a HS he had listed on Cycletrader. This morning, I got an email from my dealer informing me that my bike was on the way! I should have it by the end of the week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

That's great news! Just like waiting for Christmas day to rip into the presents under the tree :D

Guess we lucked out, my Hyperstrada arrived a week after the Hypermotard demo. Love it, by the way.

I had a deposit on one for about 5months. It took a long time and you get very little information while you wait. Totally worth it though. The bike is awesome. It reminds me of when i went from a yz250f to a crf450. It has this raw power that puts you into the back of the seat. Very tractable power, its hard to keep it under the speed limit. The bike feels light when moving and handles great. I'm hooked, this ducati stuff is like a drug.

I was on the phone with my Vespa guy when another call came in. We were finished, so I switched over, and it was my Ducati guy! I hope I can contain myself until tomorrow morning! The dealer is just under an hour away, so I'll head down and meet him when he opens!:)
