SW-MOTECH Tank Bags

I have the SW-MOTECH Micro tank bag on my Multistrada. This is a very small bag big enough for your wallet, speedpass, iPhone, sunglasses, etc. It does expand some to fit more. They also make several other bags that would mount to the same EVO tank ring. The tank ring bolts directly to the Multi's existing fuel cap bolts. It's a nifty little setup and works well, bag snaps on and off easily.

So, the dilemma was that I really wanted to be able to use the same bag on the Hyper. However, there was no available tank ring made to fit. My solution was to use some .0625 sheet aluminum to bolt the tank ring to, and then use some industrial all plastic velcro and stick it to the fuel cap..here are the results:

wildbill,
If you want a totally secure fitment (no velcro) for your Micro, you can of course fit the SW MoTech Alu rack (the Multi rack fits the Hyper) and the Alu rack Quick Lock adapter and thus convert your tank bag to a tail bag. This is what I have done with the Daypack which is the next size up from the Micro.
I will keep your solution in mind if I want to convert my tail bag to a tank bag though, great ingenuity, well done.

Nice clean set up! I am using a Bangfab rack with a Motofizz bag on the back.
Pics here...scroll down a bit.

Great stuff!!

I shall copy your idea for my Hyper.
Except I will make a permanent mount on the fuel cap.
As I have the same tankbag as your just for my Monster,
it would be silly to buy another one.

thanks Stephan

Hi Paul, I would be interested to see your permanent mount. I would like to use the same tank bag for my Hyperstrada.
Cheers.

Permanent mount

Hi,

I have not started on that yet!

It requires drilling the tank cap, so i will take
my time making that decision.

Cheers Stephan

SW Motech

Yes that is what I was thinking of doing. Could work?!

decided against drilling and mounting on the front.
Bought the quick lock for the rear bag tray.
Fabricated a mount from 4mm thick 20 mm wide flat steel.
Drilled the quicklock and the steel mount and attached the lock to
the steel mount.
Raised the steel bar 5mm with a spacer between the bar and the rear rack.
Used the factory threads nearest to the seat.

Please look at the pics.

I will take more once everything is tidy and painted in day light

Bag

Hi Rob,

it is the day bag!

What fits in:

Camera, lighter, keys , wallet , leatherman, roadmap, ( thin ) rainjacket,
and small bottle of water and there is still a little room.

Cheers Stephan

Hi Wildbill

i want to copy your design. Are you still using the same setup? have you had any issues with it? any other tips?

Thank you

Still using it and it works great. I strongly recommend using the 3m duallock fastener.
