Low fuel light came on at 140 miles this morning, usually takes about 2.9 gallons at that point. I'm at 168 miles, and low fuel trip counter is at 28 miles. Computer was showing 55.9 mpg, but 52mpg is the best I have done, varying the speeds a lot during breakin.

I'm at 605 miles and scheduled for service tuesday.

Glad this came up as I was wanting to get input on how far you would comfortably take it with fuel light on. My light has tripped each time between 116-128 (averaging 45 mpg consistently) miles and I drove it to about 13 miles with light on today. It only took 2.85 gallons but I don't know if I have the balls to test the no-crap fuel cut-off point. By this logic 30-40 miles into red should be safe and it seems like they are considering that last 0.2 gallons of 4.2 capacity unusable.

I was thinking it should go at least 50 miles after trip counter starts. I have an MSR bottle may test it in the future just to find out.

Back in my day-dream phase I thought I would just carry a little spare fuel can in those 'enormous' side bags...Ha!

Filled up at 176 miles, took 3.4 gallons, so probably another .7 gallon left or 25 or 30 miles. That should give over 200 miles to a tank.

I filled up at 160 for my fourth tank and it took about 3.3 gal. This was after a canyon run too with a long uphill section and very spirited driving. I've been tracking my fuel ups at www.fuelly.com. I'd love to see more Hyperstradas on the so we can compare mileage.

Man I'm a *****! I got nervous at 130!

It depends if you are hard on the throttle or not.
Perhaps Mr. Ténéré babied it and you did not.
Good news is that the fuel economy is similar to the one of my F800ST.

I'm old school, and probably the only one on here that did not get above 6k rpm during 600 mile break in! Well, mostly, I did slip a couple of times on pulling off and shifting late at 7.5k rpm.

Gonna be letting the hammer down soon tho.
