Ok.... so first post.

Ive just had a short test ride on a new Hyper. At 6.2ft i thought it felt small due to being sat so close to the tank and screen.

Saying that its one of the most fun motorcycles I've ridden.

Originally I was looking at a multi or even the LC GS.

So Im 98% sure im going to pull the trigger and get one as I don't really tour and this seem to be ideal

Quick question, I read on here 2015 was lower that the 2014 is that true?

Yes. The 15 is lower

Cheers... that may be an issue

just called the dealer who tells me that the 14 is the same height as the 15...

Is there a way to find out....

This is in the UK if that makes a difference

I'd get the tall specs and bring a tape measure. The 14 is the same height as the 15 if it's a lower version. In the US it's all lower now for the strada- check the ducati website to see if it's the same in the UK.

Also - if you do want to do longer rides, I'd suggest the strada - that's what we're talking about here right?

Just checked the Ducati website and the 2015 is stated as 830mm which is the low setting... As I think the 2014 was 850mm

The dealer must be mistaken...

I am going to drop in tomorrow and check it out...

May have to look for a second hand 2014 if I feel it's noticably low....

Well they used to offer both versions - so either the dealer didn't know - or they're playing word games.

Id like to give him the benefit of the doubt as he seems fairly genuine.

So is the drop in height fairly noticably, guess I will find out today.

The dealer is happy to refund the deposit if I find the 2015 not comparable with the 2014 I tested.

Is anyone aware what actually makes the the bike taller or smaller.... Is it just the spring or is it more complicated

I`m pretty sure if you check the log book it says `Hyperstrada STD` as the model name , `STD` being STANDARD height, i don`t have mine to hand at the mo...

I`m 5ft 6in and bought a standard height version , so i`m kinda `tip-toeing`on the bike at a standstill.
Theres no way i would have purchased a lower version, the reason for this is, when i test rode the standard height bike for around 170 miles, it wasnt long before i was scraping the pegs & centrestand, i am not a quick rider , the lowered version being 20mm lower would touch down a bit sooner.

With hindsight i would have probably been better buying the Hypermotard & adding the optional touring parts / accessories as required.

The pegs on my bike have both been grounded & the centrestand is worn down, i have raised the gear lever by 15mm but have not managed to raise the brake lever up yet.

Its my first Ducati , and its an awesome bike & i`m not planning on getting rid of it anytime soon.... unless they bring out a lightweight 821 multistrada !!

yeah the lower version concerns me as I'm 6.3. Add that to your experience of scraping pegs and I may have an issue there.

I may ask if the 2015 can be raised back to standard.

also to note the 2014 i tested had trouble finding neutral, in fact throughout the ride I never managed to engage it.

So im dropping to today in a round an hour to take a look at the 2015 hes got in and compare it height wise with the 2014 I tested

hyper

I also went with the regular 2015 hypermotard after testing the strada. I'm 6'3 and wanted the higher height. Also the handlebar is lower on the motard which suits me better.

One final thing is that the strada windscreen is very close to the tank and rider - I prefer not having it so I can lean forwards & tuck a bit without feeling like I'm biting the strada windscreen.

If you do a lot of highway miles and touring then the strada mods will be good.

Just got back from the dealer and it is the low model as we suspected.

saying that the ergos felt really good and even with the low setting its 40mm higher than my current bike.

So The deal so good and I pick her up in approx 10 days
