So let me ask owner's who've have their bikes for a couple years now. Did you wait to do an oil change for 9,000 miles?

If so did you notice anything odd as the oil was breaking down?

If not then what did you do exactly, a top off or a full drain and change oil and filter?

I've only got 900 miles on my 2015, but plan to change the oil roughly every 3,000 miles. Next change at approximately 3,600 miles following the first service.

Yah thats what I figured....not sure why Ducati would say 9,000 miles after the break-in service. Just seems like you'd wear done engine components so when you go for valve adjustments they can say "oh look you needs new piston rings and seal".

Ducati's engineers aren't dumb. I'm doing every 9k, as advised. 3k oil changes are ******** made up to sell more oil & service work.

I dunno if I'd wait that long, I'd at least do one before I put her in for winter storage....as far as Ducati engineers not being dumb...maybe you haven't heard about the electrical issues plaguing Hyperstradas...

Plague? Really? Owners who have problems tend to join forums and complain, but most owners don't. I certainly have not had a single problem with the electronics on mine.

Yes, those dumb engineers only helped put one bike on the podium at LeMans yesterday....guess the Honda guys are even dumber.

Got to say I'm with zippy49 on this one.
Have had my 13" Strada in very wet and windy conditions for hours. This will typically exacerbate any electrical issues. She has been rock solid, without a hint of an electrical hiccup.

I'd wager that most electrical issues with new bikes are self-inflicted by unqualified folks who take their bikes apart to "mod" them in some way.

I've owned countless cars and bikes over the years, we are talking 100+. The only problematic ones were those that had been modified by a previous dipshit owner or repaired by previous dipshit owner using crappy parts from Auto Zone.

I see, I'm not downplaying the bike in any way. If I didn't want it I wouldn't have bought it and I agree that most people who have problems tend to join forums. I jioned because I like to connect with like-minded people, I just want to make sure I cover my bases for trouble free riding. Picking up the bike on Thursday!!!

faulty throttle
corroded battery terminals
adaptations out of wack
starter motor failure

yeahhhhh. I didn't mess with any of that.

Can you supply further details on that one please kuksul?

When I had my throttle unit replaced, the tech said that my TPS and O2 zero points and synchronization were not right. He went through the procedure and reset it, and the bike ran significantly smoother especially at low RPM.

How long did you have the bike before all that stuff started going wrong?

GR8, my '13 has had zero problems. But then, I have not been looking for any!

I'll bet that the vast majority of owners have had the same experience.

If I want to worry about future problems, I'll think about my wifey's new KTM 390 Duke...which has been perfect so far, other than poor setup from the dealer. Tires were not even pumped up!

Like 6 months in is when I noticed the throttle being so weird. The starter motor got progressively worse over time. The battery terminals were corroded on day 1.

Ouch that stinks man...how can a dealer not properly prep a bike.....

Well I pick er up today and I'm going to just do a little ride around the general area maybe about 100 miles or so just to see how she goes. Will keep it on urban so I don't get too zippy on it until after 600 miles....which wont take me too long!

That "prep" cost me $600 BTW...

Good idea using the lower throttle setting. I use it to break in new tires!
