I did an oil change and found these objects at the bottom of the oil sump. Any idea what they could be?

Hi GD.

You are right, it actually does look a lot like those things on the clutch. The clutch still works 100% though? (well as good as these notoriously bad clutches can work). Might even work a bit better with less grip making it less grabby.o_O

While doing the oil service I also removed the mesh filter to clean it. I then stuck my finger in the hole to check for metal shavings etc and found these buggers in there. They were sitting on the bottom of the sump and would stick to my finger with the help of the oil and I was able to pull them out.

You might want to pull the clutch apart, there's a good chance these are all from the same disc. That will mean all the slipping and heat will take place on that single clutch and plate surface, not good.

Do you think that could cause any damage except to the clutch itself? Clutch is a big job and big $$$ and I would prefer to ride it like that until I start noticing something different/wrong. There were only about 10 of them in total I could find.

I personally wouldn't want all that material floating around in my oil sump. It may frag out and shower micron sized shrapnel into your system.

Clutch is not a hard job, look for the clutch fix thread and it will walk you through everything. Definitely cheaper to do it now... It's a Ducati, do the cheaper job now, or you'll be doing a much more expensive one later. What if one of those plates gets caught between something? Then you'll see a real bill, maybe a hospital bill if it locks the rear tire at speed

I never mentioned that those things are super thin. Less than half a millimeter I recon. They are also soft. Flex a little bit then break. Almost like a type of carbon or something like that. Does that sound like those things on the clutch plate? Doesn't the alternator maybe also have something like that? I hear you guys, probably not a good idea to just leave it. Just don't want to fix the wrong thing. Thanks for all the help so far.
