Hi everyone, I'm about this || close to pulling the trigger on the Hyperstrada. It would be my first Ducati, and I'm pretty much in love with it. But I usually take 30 minutes figuring out what I'm going to get for lunch, so on a big purchase like this I can be pretty thorough and seriously take my time.

I've looked at a bunch of different bikes, but I'm wondering what else you looked at or considered before deciding on the Hyper. Trying to convince myself I've looked at all the alternatives.

Thanks for your help.

If you're asking to this forum, you have already decided. Take an Hyperstrada and terrorize all the twisties between Boston and Biddeford. (Hyperstrada the twisties terrorizer is a registered trademark ®).

Hello elamofo

I am the same kind of person like you, a lot of thinking before I do anything.

I have tested my friends bikes and some others at my dealer shop.
Some are to heavy, some has no nice feelings.
Some has no soul and are boring.
Some are ok, but just ok :).

Today I have a Ducati Multistrada 1100 and really injoys it.
When I tested the Hyperstrada 2 weeks ago, I fell instantly in love.

Lightweight, very easy to handle, very nice engine, nice sound.
Soul and character, just like a Ducati.

A week later I put an order. Will be delivered next week :):)
Have a little separation anxiety for the Multistrada, maybe I can keep them both.

I came off the STR (Triumph Street Triple R 2012) and love the ergos of the HyperS. I also had the 2010 Multi12 base, HyperStrada compares nicely. Lighter, more sane topspeeds, handles twisties. Engine sounds similar and pulls nicely, nice hit above 6k rpm!

The suspension takes some getting used to. I thought the forks had too slow rebound. Wished they were adjustable.

I still drool over decked out BMW GS's but, they look quite heavy. Also a big fan of KTM Super Duke, but their Supermoto/Adventure are a little brutish looking. Ducati was always the Great White Buffalo - just a dream. I was torn between adventure or naked and remembered I always liked the Monster line. The first time a picture of the Strada popped up I was already thinking "sold" in my head. I might not have commited if they hadn't offered the white/black color option.

Hello elamofo,

I am still considering like you.
The alternative is Moti Guzzi V7 stone.

V7 is soft and comfortable, while HS is fast and nimble.
Try V7 for the test ride.

Happy hunting!

I sold my Triumph Daytona 675 se (after a track day incident). I looked at the bmw f800gs. Felt heavy. Still Almost bought it. I did not like it as much in the twisties. Did not like all the plastic on the Tiger. Really looked hard at the duke 690. Ultimately, the all around package of the hyperstrada won me over. So far, I think I made the right choice.

Yeah, probably true.

The KTM 990 SMT is probably comparable. The F800GS is much more off road oriented, I believe. I test rode the tuned down F700GS and found it most uninspiring-it doesn't compare horsepower wise to the HS. Of course I would recommend looking for a late model Buell Ulysses:D

How about a used 2010 Multistrada 1200 ST vs the Hyperstrada? The multi is slightly cheaper than the price of a new hyper.

I looked at the Triumph Tiger 800 roadie and the BMW GS. I liked the feel of the Hyperstrada better. I also had a Monster S2R 800 before the Hyperstrada so was a bit partial to Ducati.

One of my MSF instructors had a Tiger 1050 that he did demo's with. That had to be the sweetest and smoothest revving engine I've ever heard. The pipe he had on it made it sound like a turbo prop engine.

Elamofo, if you haven't purchased yet you should at least try the Aprilia Shiver. Were it not for the Ducati Ergos, center stand, luggage, and power outlets, I would have kept my 2011 Shiver. I love the Strada and use it to share commuting duties with an R1200GS. It's a much more comfortable commuting option than the Ape. But for weekend fun riding on twisty roads and freeway to get there, the Aprilia is a good choice. Handles very well, sport mode is a little more exhilarating than the Duc, and the sound is really no comparison. But still no ABS or TC. The Ducati is ironically a more practical choice

I took my 2011 Triumph Speed Triple into the Triumph/Ducati dealer on saturday to get my 7500 service, totally loved the Speed Triple and after waiting 2 hours to get the service I started looking at the Hyper and did a quick test run on it. Well 3 hours later I rolled it out of the dealership and left the Speed for them to sell. The Hyper is just great in so many aspects, I will miss the Triumph power and smooth 1050 engine but liking the hyper and all the things it does so well.

I'm a "Demo Day" nut...therefore several times over the past 12 months I've ridden the Bmw S1000rr(8x),BMW K1300r,Bmw F800GS(4x),Bmw Sertao,Honda Cbr1000rr(3x),Honda CB1000r,Honda CBF1000,Honda CRF250L,Kawasaki ZX10r,Ducati 1199,Ducati Multistrada,Ducati Hypermotard(2x) and the Aprilia RSV4(2x). After riding all of these bikes I'm convinced I no longer want a sport bike as my only steed as I average 8000 kms per year.I currently own a 2007 BMW F800s.

I have only to demo the Aprilia Tuono,BMW's S1000SR and the HyperStrada a few times each :D before making my final decision...it will come down to these 3.
I'm not sure I can live with the Tuono's lousy fuel consumption or the Hyper's non adjustable front end.
