What'd you do to your Hyperstrada today?

Ohh... low version that makes sense :)

I put on a new MRA windscreen and some red mounting brackets for my LED lights. Still unsure how I feel about them. They definitely accentuate the styling effort I put into them and are more flashy, but I might prefer the stealth black that I originally went with. I hope to test out the windscreen this week!

I like the way the bracket design reflects the Ducati frame's "trellis" design. And they make your bike stand out. The graphics are just as "busy," too.

My MRA is adjusted all the way up, so that plenty of air comes up underneath. It is also quite scratch resistant compared to the stocker.

I noticed this as well... I was able to wipe some fingerprints off the screen with my t-shirt and it's crystal clear. Very high quality. I really like how it works too - mine is currently in the lowest position, but I will try the higher ones as well.

Only thing I don't like is how flimsy the duc mounting bracket is. The windscreen just flops around over bumps. You get used to it, but it's not very quality.

Kuksul.. I really think I need a set of your lights on my bike.. sure would make evening trips much brighter.

Had bike remapped today
Wow big change low/middle range
Smoothed out with low gears
So much stronger power use to come on strong @5000 rpm
Now it comes on around 3-4000
Happy daze

After deciding to keep the bike for a few more years I finally got an exhaust(gpr), evo piggyback Ecu and a cheapo USB charger from eBay and my only regret is I never done it years ago!! Bike runs so much smoother now. Only future mod maybe the 14t sprocket

Oh also put metzler m7 rr front and back but went with a 190 rear and I love it, for me it's dulled the handling down a little which in turn is making it easier to hold a line in the tighter turns.

I've got a 14t sprocket coming up for sale soon. Never used it. Drop me a PM if you're interested and I will hang onto it for you. Be back in UK in August so be up for grabs then

Driving light test

Last Saturday I picked my young friend Jeremiah up at the airport and early Sunday morning he started on his trip from SoCal to Virginia on his FZ-09. I rode with him as far as the first gas stop, at Newberry Springs on I-40.

As an aside, I put a few farkles on the Yamaha while it was in my garage, like a decent seat and a windshield. I rode it several times, and in the end decided that although the extra power was nice, I prefer the handling of my Strada. Also, he was on low fuel warning at 100 miles...mine never came on. We said goodbye and I headed back to Barstow on old Route 66.

From there I rode due south on Hwy 247. This ends in Lucerne Valley, where I had breakfast. The Cafe was a hoot, see pic. Truly "The Middle of Nowhere." Then it was up Hwy 38 to Big Bear Lake, over Onyx Summit - the highest highway pass in SoCal at 8443 feet.

Once past Big Bear I rode 45 miles of great twisty road down to Mentone. At one point a pheasant flew over the road in front of me... only the second one I've ever seen around here. Not native!

When I returned, the dash showed 275 miles total at an average of 59 mpg. Not sure it that's accurate, but it sure beats that Yamaha! I was on the gas all the way, too. I'm keeping this bike. Clutch next, then another go at the suspension. Have a stock Hyper seat to try, maybe modify. After that I'm running out of things to fix.

Oh, the lights were great. It was dark all the way to Barstow, and they were really useful for dealing with slowpokes and taking a look going into corners.

Sounds like a great time! 59mpg would be crazy! The highest I have managed is 49mpg.

This is a great summer for riding. Lots of water flowing after all that rain.

Just did my first trip on my Hyper this past week. Nice loop in CO we did, including the Million Dollar Hwy. Learned a few things on this trip.

Bike is not great at 80 MPH, much less 90 MPH or the 130 MPH I found myself at on occasion. Tall windshield isn't enough. Bike front end can wobble a bit above 115 MPH. Keeping weight on/over the handlebars does help. Need to stop doing this or get a steering damper. Right now it will have to be the former. Think I need to drop the fork tubes through the trees a little and reset the sag. Ran the original Scorpions, now showing significant wear but grip better than I expected (my friend had Q3s). Really would like a cruise control.

I LOVE THIS BIKE on curvy roads, even sweepers, even with hard bags loaded. Suspension upgrades are sweet. I was riding with a fella with a Pikes Peak Multistrada and it rolls. I have to be on full boil to pass with him and forget it once there's a straight and he doesn't get the shakes (he's been to 150 MPH without any shakes). The Remus sounds good, even with the baffle in and that quickshifter is my friend.

Still want that clutch. Cannot complain about the brakes now. I really think I'm going to look into a piggyback for the engine or something to take out some of the leanest.

2-up is OK, not great. Passenger pegs with bags keep her feet too forward. needs about 2 inches forward to work for her as hoped. No matter, this will never be a great 2 up bike for me and her. Shorter stuff is fine.

Didn't need the extra gas. I burned 2.8 gal when my friends Multistrade burned 3.5 gal, which seemsed to make up for my being down a gal from him.

Oh yeh, this bike doesn't work with just any tank bag, needs to be much smaller than the one I have. I should check my mileage (we rode like mad men).

New Exhaust

Termi full system. I haven't ridden it yet because I'm riding my CRF 250l across the states at the moment. Made it to Sturgis today. Pick it up August 7.

Took my first long ride on my new Sargent custom seat. They didn't have a ready made seat so I had them 1) change the padding to their super cell foam, 2) reduce the angle of the passenger seat since my kids kept sliding into me on rides, 3) replace the cover with their Carbon FX on top and SlipNot on sides.

Quite happy with the results. The raised front end of the passenger seat ended up giving me a little more support on the back when cruising, the carbon fx material allows me to slide around much easier, and the slipnot material on the sides help with grip against my legs when needed. Of course the new foam is much more comfortable.

Sorry for the lousy pics. Was nighttime when I got home. No issues riding in the dark anymore, thanks to my Hyper Lights v2!

Finally got around to fixing the tipover damage from July. New handlebars, new hand guards (barkbusters with an aluminum backbone, no more brittle hand guards) Ourey grips (better fit for my big hands). Then of course, I rode it to check my work.
