What's your biggest complaint about the Hyperstrada?

I've had mine for the last 7 days and so far have put 200 miles on her. Clear it's a great bike! Just curious what you've noticed and what your biggest gripes are with it so far? For me, really just two things stand out at this point:

1. The display... wish it were full color and provided more info, more like the Panigale display or even better yet, like this MV Agusta display.

2. Seat height... with a 29" inseam, a 33.5" seat height doesn't inspire total confidence. It's not as bad as I thought and the bike is so well balanced it's easy to hold it on my tippy toes at a stop, but I still would really prefer being able to flat foot it. I'm going to give the low seat a try and then see if the local shoe repair place can build a 3/4" thicker sole for my riding boots. Those two things together should drop the seat height to 32", which should allow me to flat foot. Until I can flat foot it, I fear that it's always going to be that I like it and never that I love it. I think I'm learning my personal preference and that I need to be able to flat foot a bike in order to really love it and bond with it. I don't feel totally in control unless I can flat foot it would seem.

I wish it had a proper fuel gauge, if I could look at the dash and know how much I had to the nearest eighth of a tank this bike would be perfect in every single way!

Ooh and if the bags clamped and were water tight...

Crappy front forks, gear indicator, fuel gauge.

If it had a screen like that with the above added, I might have paid $499 more. I'm pretty surprised they didn't offer an SP-like package for '14 with top-o-the-line, fully adjustable suspension. Probably wouldn't move a lot of units as the low price point is probably what reeled a good portion of us in.

Way too much Breaks when it falls over. I don't even think they considered it. Other then that really nothing.

  1. Fuel gauge.
  2. Gear indicator.
  3. Automatic off signal. (I'm not sure how to mane this thing, sorry.)
Also.
  • Better tool kit.
  • Revised owner manual.

More of the same

Fuel gauge, gear indicator, waterproof givi like cases, the 'tall' windshield should come stock.

  1. .
  2. Automatic off signal. (I'm not sure how to mane this thing, sorry.)

Sadly, the Hypers already have this, but the parameters are not useful.

the manual said:
Turn indicators (automatic reset)

Turn indicators are automatically reset by the instrument panel. After activating one of the two turn indicators, they can be deactivated using the reset button (4). If the turn indicator is not “reset" manually, the instrument panel will automatically switch it off after the motorcycle has traveled 0.3 miles (500 m) from the time the turn indicator was activated. The counter for the distance traveled for automatic deactivation is activated at speeds below 50 mph (80 km/h). If the calculation of the distance for automatic deactivation is activated and then the motorcycle exceeds a speed of 50 mph (80 km/h), the calculation is interrupted and will restart when the speed returns below the indicated threshold.

Should be done by the Ducati, other brands have a simple way, gearshift up.....
Also a better timing, not the 500m stuff.. or adjustable as you like.

My list is:

Better ground clearance,
Front fork,
gear indicator.

Hyperstrada is very much OK so the list is a wish list.

Regards.

Wow! So simple and effective. Really lame that Ducati doesn't implement this. Would be so easy for them to program auto disable turn signal upon upshift.

For me, it's very much like what's been said with one addition at number 1:
1) a less finicky clutch. It took me a long time last year to find the sweet spot. Even adjusted fully within spec, I had some beginner-like stalls and awkward take offs caused by a very vague clutch feel. I finally found the magic zone that was literally a quarter turn between the rest of settings, and the rest all sucked :).
2) a fuel gauge would be great, but the combination of the trip meter and low fuel light makes the lack of a gauge a nuisance rather than a problem.
3) adjustable and smoother front forks, although the stockers aren't terrible. There's a bit more "stiction" than I'd like but other than that, they're not too bad.
4) a gear indicator would be great to have for sure.

Yeah, I would hate to see them strip some of the touring ability away to make it too "S"-like. Seems like it would be easier to just offer dealer installed upgrades.

For me it's much the same:

Higher spec forks (the OHLINS Steering damper I fitted has settled the front nicely)
Fuel Gauge
Gear Indicator (I fitted the GIPro which works fine)
Adjustable clutch lever
Heated Grips as standard
