I just picked up a demo Hyperstrada that has no bags. The mounts are in place. Anyone have a set of bags they would like to sell?

Nate

Your dealer lost the bags?? They should have them, or replace them, or discount you the cost of acquisition..!!

I can't understand how they had a hyperstrada without the bags. Maybe they went to repair another bike.
I can buy a new set for about $810 (10% off the $900 list).
what is fair for a used set? $600?

Thing is, NateB, bags come stock. So did the dealer specifically discount price you paid for missing stock component?

Yes, it was discounted as a demo bike. I got a fair price knowing it had no bags.

The sets on ebay are at full MSRP. I can get a better price at the local dealer!
I'll pull the trigger soon enough. I need luggage before our annual trip to Laguna Seca.

I can sell you mine for 750$.

Though how will you use them if they are keyed?

I decided to go with the Givi Trekker side bags with the Ducati Bellevue mount instead of the stock bags.

Hi Nate, good to meet you yesterday. Got any pics of those bags? The stock ones are also made by Givi, so I did not get the reference when we spoke. The stockers are really wide, make lane sharing very tough. Useful on a trip, though!

Hmm, I could have sworn that I saw a Givi logo on a tag in those bags. They are stored away, so I'm not checking right now. Looks like Ducati gets a lot of money for their logo.

Here is another solution, from a different forum. The side cases hold 32L, and are only $100 each without the foam inserts. Adorama is one source. They are Pelican iM2450 cases bolted to a custom frame. Submersible, lockable and very sturdy. Wonder if I could make adapters for the Strada mounts...

The strada's bag-side mounts can be unscrewed from the bags by unzipping the inner lining and exposing the screws that hold the plastic catches and and lock mechanism on. Then you can make a template for where to make holes in the new bags by using the holes in the stock bags as a guide. Transfer the stock bag side mounts to the new bags and you're all set.

If you don't want to take the stock bag-side mounts off the stock bags, the mounts and lock mech are available and shown in the parts fiche. I thought they weren't, but I looked further and found them. $22 for the non-locking catches, not sure how much the lock mech costs.

So, I really liked the Pelican cases and ordered a laptop case. I plan to attach it as a side case, using the original mounts. But, I would love to use a new set of catches on the new case and not cannibalize the stock bag. Exactly where did you see the same catches being available? What I see from Motech is slightly different from what comes stock on the HS. Help? I promise to take photos and load here when done!
