So that is the question. I have a great lead on a 13 Hyperstrada demo with 2200 miles and 1 year left on factory warranty, also looking at a 14 demo with 200 miles with full factory warranty. The 14 will need the 600 mile service but has the longer warranty and the 13 is ready to go for quite a while before it needs anything. The 13 is $10500 out the door and the 14 is $13000 out the door. Are there any issues with the 13? Im inclined to go with the 13 just for the cost savings and seems like a great deal. Thoughts? Help please.
Thanks Rob

Once the ECU rightfully updated and a streering column seal recall (done at the dealershop) I don't really see a difference between both models. Except maybe the Ducati 3D decal on the gas tank that is apparently replaced with a sticker.

$13K for a demo with 200 miles is steep. For $300 more you can get a brand new one. Maybe that's the lets make a deal price?

You could probably find a '13 in the $9's on the private market. Honestly, as long as they changed the oil and got the recalls/updates done, you can't hurt the motor. I squeeze the black out of mine every time I'm on it and it's still out of the box fresh.

Biggest thing to watch for with demo's is whether they left the luggage on and parked in the sun. The bags on one demo I saw were ash grey...they should be black as the seat.

The '13 is not a bad deal, when you add in sales tax and registration fees. It's more than four grand less than what my new '13 was OTD. And then you are square with the State, instead of putting a lowball price on the paperwork to skate on tax. Not that I'd ever consider doing that...

you'd be surprised what a dealer might do with pricing if "you've found a used one for blah blah dollars".. I know that helped with mine..

As much as your dealer is trying to tell you that both of those bikes are new.. they aren't because they decided to use them as demo's.. which means they're gonna loose some money on the sale.

Dealer was quoting about $13,700 OTD for a new 0 km '13 hyperstrada with heated grips.. Needless to say I found a used '13 locally for $9,500 with 12000 km on it and I just so happened to mention it to him in passing.. I ended up walking out of the dealership that day with papers signed on a new 0 km '13 strada for well under $12,000 OTD.. ;)

I have just replaced my 13 with a 14. Had several issues that needed fixing, and it was either waiting for parts or being fixed for over 8 weeks last summer. That said, looking at the pages on the forum, perhaps some of the issues were due to the dealer I chose to get the bike repaired.

I have just 300 km on the 2014, and feel that the throttle response is smoother than the 2013 despite having had all the updates done to the 2013, as well. Beyond this, didn't really feel any other differences.
