Air filter renewal

I think I should have changed it sooner! Here's a significant portion of stuff it trapped, everything from fine sand to insect parts, to an entire bee and even a small piece of asphalt!

I thought 18,000 miles seemed like a long time between filter changes! Might go for half that next time. My poor engine must have felt like it had emphysema!

When I replaced my intake module(Guissepe Starace carbon fiber housing) and air filter(BMC) I noticed alot of garbage under the tank too. There was even signs of water inside the air box(i ride in the rain too), i got to looking and noticed that the trellis frame has an opening directly in line with the front wheel, an areas where the front fender covers the wheel. I plan to make a small cover for that small opening to prevent water/rocks/dirt from having a direct route from the front tire to the top of the air filter. It basically acts like a cup for the garbage flinging off the tire. I don't think that covering that small area would affect air flow in my opinion due to the fact that the rest of the air box top is open.

Not so bad. I've seen rodent nests, birds, and all sorts of road debris inside air cleaners. Maybe the large opening you have now would warrant having a means to divert rain from the front wheel.
