All year round use ?

Hi just wondering how many Ducati users here plan on using them throughout the winter ? My supplying dealer reckoned he's seen a couple of Multi 1200 bikes used throughout the winter and admittedly you have to keep on top of cleaning and rinsing thoroughly, but because Ducati use high quality fittings and materials, you could hardly tell they had been through winter use !! Or has anyone already used previous Ducatis all year round in all weathers and if so how has finish of all components stood up to it ? Have heard glowing reports on www.allyearbiker.com who fine spray acf50 to protect it ?

I'll be using mine all year round, but my previous experience is that Ducati's start to look rough quickly if not cleaned and protected well in winter. I have bought a large bottle of acf50 and and had an external hose fitted at my house!

I pretty much ride my year round providing the temps are better than 28 degrees F and the roads are clear

Yeah, all year here. We don't get sand or salt down but maybe once in a blue moon, and then only on some bridges. They closed I-49 in Shreveport for a while in last big freeze, it has some big high sweeping overhead loops that they do not try to keep open.

I will use mine year round. Thought about getting heated hand grips.... But I would never turn them on! Lucky to live in Hawaii!

I will probably ride into the winter months, I have acf50 and know how to use it! They tend to over salt the roads around here, but we really don't get much snow and ice most years. With my luck, this year will be the exception, lol

Mine will be put into hibernation when we start to hit the upper 30's. I don't enjoy riding in the teen's or lower. I also don't think I have the balance to keep the bike upright on the snow and ice.;)

Here in Spain we ride all year, even winter and don't mind about wheather conditions

This is a bike parade called pingüinos. More than 30.000 bikers meet in early january every year since 80's.

Snow, ice, rain and heavy cold are usual. But only need to keep your bike clean and your heart warm. :)

I'd say half my 3400 miles have been in the rain. Bike still looks new after scrub and polish. In theory, it should handle snow better than your average touring bike. I've ridden through sand, grass and very loose gravel. The gravel wasn't fun but it tracked true.

Dirty snow is nasty enough in a car. I don't see the attraction of doing it unless it's your only mode of transport.

I'm with Volcanic on Oahu. The most I deal with is a bit of rain. I'll be putting knobby tires on my HS when I move to Seattle, and plan on riding it any time it's not compacted snow/ice on the roads.

Better invest in some good rain gear:D, I'm on the east side of the Cascades where its mostly dry but gets to cold for me anyway. Just don't see myself riding around when it's in the teens.

34 Degrees F this morning so yah I ride year round, would be nice to have some heated grips!!!!

Already did. I've got a Sand 2 jacket/pants from RevIt. Still have yet to use the liners, as every time I get caught it's "Oh, I didn't know it was raining here. Too late to stop and swap now for a 5-minute run."

I'll try to find a day where I can ride through known rain to give everything a test. Having non-vented gear here is a killer at city speeds. The only thing saving the bike from 250+F is the liquid cooling.

Here in San Diego the winter is probably the better time of year to ride, less tourists and temps in the 50's / 60's !!!

Ride all year here in south Mississippi. Near the salt water so I have to keep an eye on the corrosion. With a little attention it is negligible.

Winter is low 30s mostly in Jan and Feb. Can see the 20s or even teens but not every year.
