Aprilia Coils ?

While reading up to troubleshoot the poor running issues my 2016 939 Strada developed, I found a couple of threads about replacing the Ducati coils for Aprilia ones on the 2014 821 onwards.
Will this still be an issue with the later 939 bikes or would I just be wasting my time/money getting the eldor coils?

If I had a warranty on a 939 I would not do the swap till the warranty ran out. I read somewhere that the part number changed on the 939 coils. They were the same brand and part number but a revised coil and the old ones were put to rest. I'm not sure if it's true but if it were my bike and I was out of warranty I would swap. But that just my opinion

That's sort of my thought process as well. The bike only came with a 3 month warranty from Ducati and that expired in July.
I ordered a set of used ones off a 2018 Aprilia.
I'll do these when I fit the replacement o2 sensors. I bought new plugs as well just in case. I don't want to have to keep going back in there for this stuff. Taking the tank off is a right pain on the arse.

I did this to my 821 years ago due to the OEM ones frying the ECU, and I still have 2 leftover Aprilia coils (since they usually come off a V4) if anyone needs them.

Super easy to splice and I've never had an issue since in the last 10k miles.

Might as well fit a new air filter while you are in there... Such a pain why do we need gas tanks in the way

25k on my 939 with no issues, I suspect the electrical problems were sorted out.

N4tethegreat, which year 939? I need to hear some positive experiences before I pull the trigger on a 2016 with 11k miles....

Mine is a 2018. And by no issues I mean none of the issues with frying the dash or ECU. Bike did suffer from some stumbling and surging under maintenance throttle, more noticeable around 3 - 5k. I have since given it a tune with the T800 based on the Star.Ace performance airbox cover. That along with going 2 up in the rear sprocket (I know I could have gone 1 down in the front, but I wasn't looking to go that extreme and 2up mimics the 2015 gearing) and it's muc more driveable around town now. It never had a problem ripping canyons even when stock, I just found the lack of smooth power when I was trying to just cruise in town annoying. It has started having issues with MAP sensor errors, which I suspect could be related to dirt getting into the airbox since the sprinter filter I am using is not really meant for off road, and yet, the bike has spent some time on dirt roads. That issue is annoying, but not a show stopper. Worst case I'll try out a more restrictive air filter or go back to the stock airbox lid. Other than that I've had no issues with the bike.

I had over 20K miles with no coil induced issues. Swapped to Aprilia just because. Didn't affect anything.

I doubt anyone has ordered them new from Aprilia. My guess is they would be mighty expensive. Just search ebay for used coils from a V4 Aprilia Tuono and you'll get a couple of spares too for 100GBP or maybe ?$150.

Jer, I have the short corded pair left from the full V4 set I bought. You'll have to do some splicing for sure but PM if interested.

Hello!
I saw the service manual and the parts catalogue, some parts had the code changed, but it is the same. Just a code upgrade.

The P/N of Eldor coils are 857501(long patchcord) and 857084(short patchcord)
