Can you share your RAM mount/ Phone mount/ GPS mount setups please?

I think there was a few floating around a few years ago but just wanted to see if there's any new options out there.

Thanks

I just installed this one on the bike: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DQVM1JX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

While the arm is a RAM copy, I like that the mounting clamp is low profile with a little more surface area on the handlebar than a u-bolt. Also this will let me put the ball either at the top or the bottom of the handlebar clamp, depending on what angle will give me the best visibility for my phone.

I'll report back in with pics after I've given it a proper test - don't want to recommend too hard until it's seen some use!

This is pretty close to the position I wanted. Dash isn’t obstructed and the phone is visible just below. Hopefully I can sneak in a ride tomorrow to see how well it holds position.

that's the same configuration I use. works well, though I think this is what caused my newer samsung phone with the glass back to crack.

I can attest that the standard RAM "X" style mount will survive a 20 mph low side. Just dumped mine the other day and phone was secure, and I don't even use the securing strap that comes with it. Mount mine via the claw bar clamp.

Not so good story was my previous RAM broke at the pivot ball and fell into my lap on a busy street. I got very lucky but could have easily lost a brand new S10+. That mount had about 9K very bumpy miles on it.

I had a RAM x-grip on my old f700gs, and I could swear my Pixel 2 got increasingly flaky after several long rides. I’m hoping the pixel 4 fares better but in general being mounted to the bars doesn’t seem like a great thing for a phone...

Sorry to hear about any crash! How did you and the bike fare?

It was a relatively low speed low-side. Hit gravel and uneven pavement leaned pretty far over entering an on ramp and it just rocketed out from under me and did a couple spins on the right side. Extensive crash protection saved me from serious problems (T-rex sliders!!!). The right DP handguard exploded, leaving the turn signal dangling. The metal bar would have survived but the inner mount broke. Got some rash on the high peak of the right fairing/ forward edge of the can (Akra...sucks)/ right mirror, sheered both foot pegs and the rear brake peg (of course), pretzeled the adjustable part of new Ducabike front brake lever but it folded as designed and survived. Luckily I had an expensive rash guard on the lip of my clear clutch cover. I debated keeping this on because it slightly blocks access to the rear brake lever but it probably save me cracking the case. I removed the handguard, cut the dangling turn signal, and rode it home. I was fully geared so some minor bruises and scratches. Couple holes in my pants and jacket but helmet was saved with very light scuffs.

Just ordered the handguard and hardware to re-mount. *Note: if you have the DP handguards, the LED signal is the expensive part. The plastic and metal support are affordable and can pieced together without the signal from a parts fiche for a 939. I ordered RSV rear sets about 2 months ago so wasn't too concerned about all the lower controls damage. Unfortunately, I just checked up on my order and it never left Thailand because of an issue with my address...this sucks. I can coble together a temp rear brake fix but the foot peg is probably beyond my ability, at least for a safe temp solution. It broke the aluminum mounts that hold the pivot bolt in place.

The T-Rex are only bested by a crash bar system. They tie into multiple frame points and are very sturdy. While they aren't the sexiest gear you can hang on her, they obviously work and I don't even need to replace them after the get off. I'll probably just sand it smooth to remove the tarmac scars. BONUS: they have enough surface area to double as a highway relief peg to adjust your stance if you're getting hot spots.

On my ST4, I have a rubber isolator mount for my satnav, but on all other bikes I just put it in a soft weatherproof pouch that straps around whatever is there, generally the bars, of course. It's not as firm a mount as a fixed one, but then it's not a mount that's firm enough to transmit vibration!

I had a similar design for my 1st mount many years ago. Fully enclosed system. The fabric ones are usually not entirely waterproof, which was an issue on older phones. The touchscreen window will get scored from touch with gloved fingers and condensation can build up and obscure screen view. I tried a fully enclosed hard case after that and while much better, still had the window. When smartphones started getting good water resistance ratings, I prefer to rock a naked mount and a good case. The RAM mounts have a somewhat shock absorbent base and the cradle arm pads are very soft and sticky. Lately, I don't see the same mount on any bike in my garage and they all look good. It's a gamble testing a new product if failure means your $1G phone hits the pavement at 75 mph.

I used this case on my old f700gs - Amazon.com: USA Gear Motorcycle GPS Bike Phone Mount with Handlebar Waterproof Touch Case with 360 Degree Viewing - Compatible with Garmin , Zumo , Magellan , Tomtom , Trail Tech and GPS Units up to 6.75 Inch - was convinced that the RAM X-Grip was transferring too much vibration to my old phone. Not sure the puffy case helped, but the damage may already have been done.

The new mount worked well on a ride today, didn’t change angle or anything. I’m not sure how well it’ll fare in the long term but absolutely worth the money I paid for it.
