i just got a small fuel canister
MSR 30 oz. Fuel Bottle - TwistedThrottle.com
this one to be exact.

i was wondering if anyone had or would know of the best place to put it. planning a long ride (for me) and i wanted the extra security.
i was planning on putting it under the mounts for the bags. above the rear tire. any sugestions would be greatly appreciated

That's a good idea. Glad you said something. I'll end up messing with that tonight

I just bungee a 1 gallon gas can to my pannier. With a top bag on it seems to stay there okay. Running at 100+ across desolate places like the Nebraska Panhandle will teach you real quick to carry extra fuel... My low fuel light was coming on around 90 miles into a tank.

It's funny how much more nervous I am about the Strada low fuel light vs my car's. I know I can get another 30 miles proven, but I still start sweating.

i dont trust that pesky light

if you get used to it you know exactly how far still to go.

depending on the fueluse display and the km/mi where the fuel lamp lights up, i know rather exactly how far i still can drive.

on the trip[ i mounted the fuel tank to the top of the rear of the seat. it worked fine. didnt move much. came in handy one time.

also the fuel light was all over the place. sometimes it would come on when i used 2 gallons. sometimes 3.5 gallons. it was simply odd. so when i came on i checked my "mpg average" and just went 2/3s of whatever that said... so if is said i was getting 50mpg average i would go 35-40 miles then get gas
